Yeah got 3 of those plus, Terminator 2, Billy Elliot and the sci-fi one with the four figures...saw that recently but can't remember what it's called

? The Matrix?

Of the films I mentioned, my favourite is "The Wizard of Oz", my second favourite is "North by North West" and my third favourite is the last one AmΓ©lie. That's a one off film, very French, very quirky, and a beguiling performance by Audrey Tatou, subtitled though.

No, I think it was called 'Arrival'

I'd probably agree with you re 'The Wizard of Oz'..a classic!

I haven't come across "Arrival" and know nothing about it I've little interest in modern films so my knowledge of them is poor

20th Century Fox made a film called "The Blue Bird" in 1940 as their response to MGM's "The Wizard of Oz". It starred Shirley Temple. The film is not a classic. I've seen it and although there are some good scenes in it, it doesn't have the quality of "The Wizard of Oz".

Watched a clip and agree, it's not a patch on the 'Wizard of Oz'

I have to admit that I've always found Shirley Temple somewhat annoying

Although Shirley Temple was a very popular child actor at the time, her films rarely get shown now and her films as an adult aren't in the same league as Judy Garland (other than in a supporting role in "Bachelor Knight" (Cart Grant and Myrna Loy) and "Fort Apache" one of John Ford's major westerns).

18 days since there's been any rain here and the ground is dry. Local council cut the grass on the verges a few days ago and what's left is straw coloured.
BBC weather site showing showers here today, Met Office showing very little.

Why does that not surprise me
They don't appear to have any common sense where nature is concerned.
I get annoyed when they cut the communal grass areas around here...cutting down the wild flowers that are visited by bees and other bugs. It's been noted by the natural scientists that we are struggling for insects...pollinators in this country.
Just a shame our local council are deaf!!

It's started to rain again here El...do you want me to have word

There are no insects. Check the front of any car out. They used to be splattered.

Have a good one nice people

There's a section of the playing fields nearby which was converted to a habitat for a small nature reserve for wildflowers and insects, it's better than nothing

Just had an email from Virgin Media saying that they've finished their maintenance work and that I "can hop online and get back to doing what you love most – chit-chatting, gaming, streaming. Whatever floats your boat!".
Can't say I've noticed any outages not that I mind.

The emails they been sending me are all sent at between 2.35 and 2.38 in the afternoon so that seems to be the time they notify people rather than when they actually finish,

And if I have troubles connecting just reboot the hub. Of course if I were having problems I wouldn't have been able to get the email

Or be able to phone them if you've been migrated over to one of their new hubs.
They're apparently doing works in the Exeter area on Friday...should be finished by 18.00hrs, so they say.

There have been times where my landline has been down as well as my internet connection and that's before the landline has been moved over to the hub. So both can be out at the same time

18.00 was the time mentioned in their emails as well, so that seems to be their stock answer for planned maintenance work

Not keen on the wagon wheel or the stick of rock...

The one I haven't had was called Taytos, haven't come across them .
Quite liked wagon wheels when I was at school, they had them in their tuck shop, haven't had any since I left school.
Like you, I'm not keen on sticks of rock, rarely had them and none for decades.
Not keen on teacakes.
Like parkin but haven't had that very often.

Freshly baked eccles cakes are far far nicer than the packaged ones. Try  a freshly baked one from M&S for instance and you'll see what I mean.

We used to have Tayto crisps when my Dad was stationed in Northern Ireland

Will look out for the Eccles cakes next time I'm in M&S ...like mine warmed a little with clotted cream

The loose ones in the bakery section rather than the packs they have

I hadn't realised that Tayto was a brand name. Haven't had any crisps in a long time as I need to avoid salty things

@slimfern Sky Arts will be showing a season of Alfred Hitchcock films from Sunday 31st 9 pm, Besides well known films ("Rear Window", "Psycho" and "The Birds") it will also include lesser known films: "Frenzy" which you started to watch but it was too much for you, "Marnie" (1964) (Tippi Hedren & Sean Connery) and his last film "Family Plot" (1976) (Karen Black & Bruce Dern) (not vintage Hitchcock but fairly enjoyable). May be other films in the season but those are the ones mentioned in Sky Arts trailer.

Oooh I like the sound of that, even though I have seen and have all but one of them on dvd, I don't mind watching again, except for 'Frenzy' as your memory serves you well, I didn't much care for
'Family Plot' I haven't seen, so look forward to seeing that one for the first time

Thanks El
