@slimfern possible films on the Talking Pictures tv channel this coming week:
Tuesday 7.00 in the morning "The Private Life of Oliver the Eighth" (1934) Laurel & Hardy short but darker comedy than their normal ones. Title is a play on words from the 1933 Charles Laughton film "The Private Life of Henry VIII"
Tuesday 16.50 "Block-heads" (1938) another Laurel & Hardy short
Friday 4.15 in the morning "Laughing Gravy" (1930) another Laurel & Hardy short
Nothing of note in full length films, "Hide and Seek" (1963) tomorrow at 15.30 is a minor British spy comedy thriller about a research scientist who is played by Ian Carmichael.

Will record the Laurel and Hardy films
Thanks El

"Block-heads" is the best of those three shorts and was the last of their films made for MGM and can be considered their last top class film.

I remember wanting to be Roberta
About 30 years ago I was working in Cheltenham and was walking from the car park to where I was going to. Waited to cross a road and noticed a younger man also waiting. I thought he looked a bit like a young Stan Laurel though didn't say anything/
Then just as we were to cross over he put a hand to his hair and did that famous mannerism of Stan Laurel's

Did you fumble with your tie back at him El
@slimfern posted:Did you fumble with your tie back at him El
No, I didn't. My weight is far closer to what Stan Laurel would have weighed rather than Oliver Hardy, and it could look as if I was ridiculing him

Good morning everyone
Virgin Media due to do maintenance work in my area tomorrow so I may be unable to get internet access. The extreme heat may also cause power cuts due to equipment over heating today and tomorrow.
I hope everyone stays safe and keep hydrated
Yeah - stay cool down south. And safe
Good afternoon Buddies
Its 24 degrees here already
Enjoy your day everyone but stay hydrated
Latest forecast for here is a high of 37° today and tomorrow. That's outside temperatures rather than indoors.

It's Ėķ2Ėķ5Ėķ°ĖķCĖķ 28°C here now, the sun is out and the threat of rain has gone

That's why there's been such emphasis in the news in this country to try to prevent similar numbers in this country

I'd have thought they would be more equipped for the heat, unlike us
It's 30°C here now...a 5 degree increase in an hour.

According to the very local weather measuring station at 14.48 the temperature was 38.3° though has since come down to 37.7°
That's not an official measuring station though.
That's outside of course, not indoors where it's somewhat cooler.

After I posted, the temperature shown on the very local weather measuring station went up again though has since come down.
At its peak it's showing at 16.03 this afternoon 38.8°. That breaks the highest ever recorded temperature in this country of 38.7° though won't count as a new record as isn't official. In any case it will be broken elsewhere today or tomorrow.

Good morning everyone
I was able to get a fair night's sleep despite it being a very warm night. Another very hot day today but starting to cool down by the evening.
Virgin Media maintenance day in my area so likely to be a loss of internet connection (and phone).
I hope everyone has a good and safe day

I don't think there's any amber warnings for tomorrow, though there's a yellow warning for thunderstorms which covers an area which borders where I am

Another fun day in prospect for tomorrow then El?
Spotted that BBFC has passed a short advert with one of the obscurest titles of all time:
https://www.bbfc.co.uk/release...dglvbjpwwc0xmda2mde2
I assume it's an advert to be shown in cinemas as the BBFC don't classify television ones.
I think this is probably the advert:

Advert is worth watching and is very entertaining

No interruptions to my internet connection today though I don't know if they decided not to do the work today due to the heat. Starting to cool down now but it's been hotter today than yesterday - the local weather measuring has a peak of 39.5°.
The films I recognised in that clip in the order shown were Gladiator, The Wizard of Oz, Gravity, Thelma & Louise (haven't ever watched the film), The Graduate, North by Northwest, The Aviator and AmÃĐlie.
