@slimfern "The Captive Heart" (1946) is on the Talking Pictures tv channel this afternoon at 15.35. British film set during WW2. A Czech man who has escaped from a German concentration camp finds the corpse of a British soldier, so takes he soldier's clothes and ID to save himself. He's captured and becomes a prisoner of war with other British soldiers. They are allowed to write and receive letters to their loved ones. To avoid giving himself away he starts writing to the soldier's wife. The wife and her husband had become estranged. What starts off as being fairly mundane letters develops over the course of the film. The Czech man is played by Michael Redgrave and the wife by Rachel Kempson (they were married in real life). Unique and quite moving film.

Thanks El

That story sounds familiar...I'll record it as I have a date this afternoon with my garden

BBC article for mycologists:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-...nds-islands-62150479
One of the teachers at my school was a mycologist and had written about fungi such as toadstools and mushrooms which is why I knew the word.
There's a photo of some violet coral fungi. Yesterday violet sea snails, today violet fungi

They look like they're made out of playdoh

The Color Violet Symbolizes Wisdom and Sensitivity.
Which one do you think is which El?

I’m in the red zone El

As is my brother
He won't be going outside, will be keeping curtains closed and drinking plenty of water.

There's the risk of power cuts due to systems overheating and also mobile phone outages
The main area of concern is the south east where there's an 80% chance of a record highest temperature and a 50% chance of it getting into the 40s in isolated places.

Good advice which I intend to follow too El

Lets hope it doesn’t actually reach those record high temperatures

Obviously, the extreme heat warnings need to be taken seriously by people and there is a real likelihood of a new record being set.
But it is a touch misleading when the headline is "First red extreme heat warning issued in the UK". Yes, it's the first time but the Met Office only introduced warnings for extreme heat in June last year. So there have been heatwaves in the past (not as hot as the one coming) where warnings would probably have been issued if they had existed then,
