No-one could really play Judy Garland could they...she was a one off

I haven't seen "Judy" and don't think I want to as it also covers her last days when she was not at all well. Renee Zellweger does all the singing but as the mature Judy singing in London at her final concerts. She won an Oscar for that film. I suspect it's quite a downbeat film and I'd rather stay with Judy in her films

I sort of feel the same way El

My parents saw her live on stage, they said she was very good

Not much of interest on the Talking Pictures tv channel for the next week.
There are some minor films which might be worth recording but don't expect much:
Tuesday 2.40 in the morning "Let's Make Love" (1960) Marilyn Monroe's last musical. Also in the film are Yves Montand and Tony Randall. Frankie Vaughan sings in the film along with Marilyn.
Wednesday 7.20 in the morning "Crackerjack" (1938) British comedy about a gentleman thief poses as a butler to outsmart a criminal gang and falls in love with a baroness.
Thursday 2.05 in the morning "The Grass is Greener" (1960) Mild comedy with Cary Grant, Deborah Kerr, Robert Mitchum and Jean Simmons (cast more interesting than the film)
Saturday 18.15 "The Gentle Gunman" (1952) In 1941, in wartime U.K., two Irish brothers working for the I.R.A. come against their local leader's ruthless methods. The only reason for mentioning this film is the rather unlikely casting of the two brothers - John Mills and Dirk Bogarde The only other film I've seen with those two as the leads was "The Singer not the Song" (1961) where Mills was a catholic priest (he was alright as that) and Bogarde as a Mexican bandit, absurdly cast. Mills is on record for saying that Bogarde was one of the few actors he disliked working with,

It's hard to imagine Bogarde as that

Did Mills say why he didn't like working with Bogarde?
