wolffia globulus is generally found in Asia and parts of the Americas, it's also called duckweed. There are many types of duckweed which are similar. Common duckweed is the type you are most likely to have seen here, that is called lemma minor.

Friday June 10th marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Judy Garland.
BBC Four are devoting Thursday evening to her, though with as a repeated documentary, the Renee Zellweger biopic "Judy" and "A Star is Born".
Good afternoon Buddies
A cold, grey and windy start to the day here. Itâs just started to rain
Enjoy the weekend everyone

No-one could really play Judy Garland could they...she was a one off

I haven't seen "Judy" and don't think I want to as it also covers her last days when she was not at all well. Renee Zellweger does all the singing but as the mature Judy singing in London at her final concerts. She won an Oscar for that film. I suspect it's quite a downbeat film and I'd rather stay with Judy in her films

I sort of feel the same way El
My parents saw her live on stage, they said she was very good

Good morning everyone
Wet start to the day here, rain stopped for the time being, thick blanket of cloud at present.
I hope everyone has a good day
I didn't watch the concert yesterday evening but the highlight seems to have been this:
Not much of interest on the Talking Pictures tv channel for the next week.
There are some minor films which might be worth recording but don't expect much:
Tuesday 2.40 in the morning "Let's Make Love" (1960) Marilyn Monroe's last musical. Also in the film are Yves Montand and Tony Randall. Frankie Vaughan sings in the film along with Marilyn.
Wednesday 7.20 in the morning "Crackerjack" (1938) British comedy about a gentleman thief poses as a butler to outsmart a criminal gang and falls in love with a baroness.
Thursday 2.05 in the morning "The Grass is Greener" (1960) Mild comedy with Cary Grant, Deborah Kerr, Robert Mitchum and Jean Simmons (cast more interesting than the film)
Saturday 18.15 "The Gentle Gunman" (1952) In 1941, in wartime U.K., two Irish brothers working for the I.R.A. come against their local leader's ruthless methods. The only reason for mentioning this film is the rather unlikely casting of the two brothers - John Mills and Dirk Bogarde The only other film I've seen with those two as the leads was "The Singer not the Song" (1961) where Mills was a catholic priest (he was alright as that) and Bogarde as a Mexican bandit, absurdly cast. Mills is on record for saying that Bogarde was one of the few actors he disliked working with,
Good morning Buddies
Its cold, wet and windy here. The promise of thunderstorms too
Enjoy your day everyone

It's hard to imagine Bogarde as that
Did Mills say why he didn't like working with Bogarde?

Apparently Mills said that in interviews.
If you look at the first two comments on the IMDB trivia page for "The Singer not the Song" it doesn't seem that they liked each other:

No: it doesn't look like they did...fancy threatening to make everyone's lives a misery if he didn't get his own way

Besides England winning a cricket test match, Wales qualifying for the football would cup, & Nadal winning the French Open yesterday, there was another notable sport event taking place on the same day:

It's not something I've ever been to and certainly have never participated
So many people go to watch that so the parking is a nightmare when the event takes place

Yeah the only participation I'd have with it possibly, is eating the cheese before it gets rolled

I've never tried some but one can get Single Gloucester cheese, that can only be made in Gloucestershire. That has less fat and milder than Double. A lot more expensive as not mass produced.

It's one of those cheeses that only appears in our house at Christmas, for the cheeseboard selection
I much prefer a Stilton
