A lovely rescue story El

Slimbridge was of course created by Peter Scott. He was the only son of Robert Scott of the Antarctic who died when he was only 2. Robert Scott's last letter to his wife can be seen via:

Neat the end of the letter he wrote:
"make the boy interested in natural history if you can, it is better than games" and later:
"he ought to have a fine career and do something in the world"

Looking at the Talking Pictures tv channel for the next week, there's not much to recommend as the schedule has lots of repeats. There's a 1962 horror film called "Carnival of Souls" very early Wednesday morning. It's a very low budget film with no well known actors. With such limitations it's a surprisingly effective film. It's eerie and disturbing rather than horrifying.
The only person in the credits which might ring a bell was the assistant director Reza Badiyi who is best known as the creator of the title sequence of the original Hawaii Five-O. series.

Good morning Buddies

The forecast is, a fairly cloudy start with scattered showers moving north through the morning, perhaps heavy in places. Drier for the afternoon with a few sunny spells, but also the risk of some heavy showers developing in places. Feeling warm and humid. Maximum temperature 23 °C. That’s a mouthful

Have a great day everyone

Slimfern, a couple of films on the Talking Pictures tv channel today which I'm recording but I don't think would  have much appeal to you.
At 3/40 pm "The Street with No Name" (1948) which is a semi-documentary crime thriller. Richard Widmark is the main villain  and it was his second film (first being "Kiss of Death" with him as a psychopathic killer). Nothing to do with that U2 song "Where the streets have no name"
At 9.05 pm "Thieves' Highway" (1949) which is a tough revenge film noir. It's an American film directed by Jules Dassin who was American even if his name sounds French and he made "Rififi" (1955) which is a French film and is regarded as the first major heist film.
Neither film can be regarded as fun or light hearted

I have since watched both films.
"The Street with No Name" was a so-so film.
"Thieves; Highway" was the better film with one extraordinary scene. The ending may have been forced on the makers of the film to comply with the Production Code in force at that time.

Did I miss much by not watching either film El?

You didn't miss much with "The Street with No Name".
"Thieves' Highway" is a good film and probably the only film noir about golden delicious apples (really), Originally released in cinemas with A, on DVD with a 12 but Talking Pictures gave it a 15  - I would rate it as a 12 for moderate violence. For instance a man savages beats another man but that man has fallen behind a bar so you see the man beating downwards but you don't see the man being hit.
