Although I have seen some superhero films on television, I wouldn't pay money to see them at a cinema or on a DVD. Martin Scorsese on such films "“Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, psychological experiences to another human being.”

I can't say I'm a fan of modern film. Such is my interest and knowledge that when I heard of the name Shia LaBeouf, I thought that was a woman

Moonie, I hope you are getting better

Mean Streets was trippy. Not a bad starter for ten.

And true to his roots.

Hope you're okay El

If you search for photos of him, he's male

Yeah so I see

Not a very savoury one according to Wiki....accused of plagiarism, charged with disorderly conduct, harassment, and criminal trespass, criminally charged with misdemeanor battery and petty theft.....fuelled by his alcohol addiction.

He has however since found help..and we don't sit in judgement

'Lavender Hill Mob' is on BBC2 at 1pm today

I saw it not that long ago, it's a very funny film
Apparently Valerie Singleton was one of the girls in the film. She would have been 13/14 at the time. I didn't spot her though. There's a scene where Alec Guinness goes into a classroom - I guess she was one of the girls there rather than one of the girls at the Eiffel Tower.

Yes I've seen it before, but a good few years ago ...it is a funny film

I didn't spot Valerie Singleton...tbh I didn't realise she was an actress...I just remember her for presenting Blue Peter

Valerie Singleton was at the Arts Education School which covered dance as well as music and acting - she had wanted to be a dancer. She also went to RADA for a couple of years. My guess is that her class were selected for the girls in the classroom scene. It wouldn't have been a spoken part, and wouldn't have involved acting as such.
She did do a bit of acting and was in a long forgotten short lived BBC sitcom in 1959 called "The Adventures of Brigadier Wellington"

I'm old enough to remember Valerie Singleton's first time on Blue Peter. She was clearly nervous though Christopher Trace would have helped her as by the next episode she was more relaxed.

I think he may have been overweight

Yes I believe he was...He also was a known womaniser and tbh, that right there is enough to give heart failure.

His death came on the same day as fellow Australian cricket icon Rod Marsh, to whom Warne paid tribute in a tweet a few hours prior to his own death.

It says on Wiki that she only did Blue Peter for 10 years, finishing in '72 and yet I remember her quite well even though we didn't have a telly until '74 ....we had one in Cyprus '71-'74 but it didn't speak English

But Wiki mentions that she continued part time as a roving reporter on Blue Peter until 1975.  She also did a lot of the BP Special Assignment programmes (22 of them between 1973 and 1976, and a couple in 1981).
The other programme she's remembered for is "Nationwide" (1973-1978), Also "The Money Programme", one of the main presenters from 1980 until 1988.

Yeah I didn't read it all
I did used to watch 'Nationwide' so makes sense that I knew her from that and her roving reports and assignments on 'BP'

Don't remember 'The money programme', but then I spent most of the 80's being pregnant and looking after babies...no time for tv

"The Money Programme" was on BBC Two and aimed at those more likely to watch "Newsnight" on that channel rather than the news on BBC One. Ended back in 2009. I don't think I ever watched it, too much like work

Cheltenham at home to Doncaster this afternoon. Although Doncaster is one from bottom in the table, their recent away form is substantially better than their home form. 10 points from their last 5 away games compared to 3 from their last 5 home games,

Akin to a busman's holiday almost

My mother told me years ago that when she was young she was on holiday with her parents. They went on one of those mystery coach tour one day and were taken to where they lived

New legislation being brought in for large businesses where they are required to comply with:
notification of uncertain tax treatment
https://www.gov.uk/government/...for-large-businesses
I wonder what abbreviation will be used for the HMRC department dealing with this and how the staff will be referred to.......
(HMRC have been sending emails to all agents though most won't have clients that large)

If we're talking possible tax avoidance here then:
HMRC CPS! might be appropriate.
