A long time ago my mother told me about a woman who was caught up in such a strong wind that she was blown away and never seen again. That was probably told to her by her mother.
My mother also said that her mother insisted on leaving things plugged in the electric sockets as she believed that if they were taken out, the electricity would come in to the rooms through the sockets and electrocute her

In case you hear of several severe flood warnings in Gloucester, those are to the south of Gloucester by the river and I don't live nearby

Pleased to hear that El
We've not been given any warnings about the river near my Dad in any risk of breaking it's bank. It has done many times before, but not caused issues as far as I'm aware.

Sweet!

My Nana used to believe that the PG Tips chimps could actually talk and that it was amazing how the cows were taught to dance in the Anchor Butter ad.

Good morning everyone

Breezy here, Storm Eunice yet to get here. Gusts forecast this morning in the 60s mph, possibly in the 70s. Not as strong as elsewhere. Severe flood warning is now in place where the electricity substation is. I assume that flood defences have been raised there. Those were improved after the July 2007 flood. The River Severn is a tidal river and the time of the high tide coincides with the peak of the storm.

I hope everyone has a good day and stay safe

It didn't materialize here. Hopefully it's the same for me English chums

Take care anyway troops. Famous last words but I dunno if Russia attacks Ukraine. Hope not - innocent people suffer. Think it's a chess match.

Hope you're busy and well El Gran Senor

That was Vincent O'Brien I think

Good morning Buddies

A cold dry start with a light breeze for now. The sun just peeped out too

Take care my friends. Don’t venture out if you don’t have too. I’m not

Try to enjoy your day everyone

i have no intention of going out today either.
I think a lot of people are staying in today, the majority of schools in the area have closed for the day.

Good for you El

It looks like the local schools are still open here

I have one of those 20 over a side matches on the television. The tallest player in cricket is playing. He is 7 feet 2 inches tall

Correct and he got taken off after a bouncer and a beamer under the rules of the game

I think it would have been because of the beamer as those are illegal in cricket A bowler is reprimanded for one instance in an innings, a second one results in not being allowed to bowl for the rest of the innings and the bowler may be reported for further possible action.

The severe flood warnings here have been downgraded as Storm Eunice hasn't been as bad at high tide locally as forecast.
Worse elsewhere. A wind gust of 122 mph reported on the Isle of Wight which is provisionally the highest ever recorded in England.

Good news that it hasn't been as bad as they predicted ...despite Needles record
Hopefully the SE doesn't suffer too badly either as the storm moves that way throughout the day...

It hasn't been as bad here as forecast but it's been dreadful elsewhere and I think there's been a fatality in Ireland

I spoke with my brother on the phone last night and he said he wasn't going for his daily walk today as it would be too dangerous - he lives in London.

Still very windy here. I popped outside for a couple of minutes to pick up some plastic boxes which I could see had blown into my neighbours front garden (she's elderly and frail). I also had been hearing the sound of wood knocking just outside so wanted to see what was causing that. The wind had blown open the cover over what used to be the external gas meter box so nothing serious. My meters were replaced with smart ones so I no longer look at whatever is in that box now.

How sad if so El

Very neighbourly of you to rescue the plastic boxes, but be careful....

You brother sounds like a wise man....like you
