Well that goes in it's favour...and a good director
It's my youngest son's birthday on Tuesday, and although he will be 31, the excitement is just the same as if he were 13 , so by the time 23.05 comes round I may not have the energy left to watch ...I'll record it for another day

A happy birthday for your son on Tuesday

And the forecast for tomorrow is worse than today with Storm Barra (bad but current forecast not as bad as the one a week ago)

Yes, we have a yellow warning for wind tomorrow but as you said not as bad as the previous storm. You have to feel sorry for the people who still don’t have power after the last storm with another one looming

Yes
The Met Office say that the affected coastal areas could get gusts in the 60-70 mph range, so about 20 mph below those of the storm a week ago.

The reason why tomorrow's storm is named Storm Barra rather than Storm Bella is because it's been named by the Irish equivalent of the Met Office. It's expected to be a lot worse in the south west part of Ireland and red wind warnings have been issued for Counties Cork, Kerry and Clare with gusts along the coast of 130km/h (80 mph).

Is Barra Irish for Bella El?
That's some winds they're in for
Don't think we're getting them that bad in Devon are we?

Barra is Gaelic for "fair-haired". It originates from the word "fionbharr" = "Finbar" and became popular since the 6th century when St Finbar came to an area of Cork which was being tormented by a snake and he was able to drive it away.

Bella = beautiful.

Of course St Finbar isn't the best known Irish saint to have banished a snake, St Patrick is far better known.

What you may not know is that St Paul is credited with banishing snakes from Malta. That's based on the passage from the Bible - Acts chapter 28 v 1-6.

It is only legend though isn't it....In fact, research suggests snakes never occupied the Emerald Isle in the first place. There are no signs of snakes in the country's fossil record.
Again...because there are no signs, does not mean it didn't happen...we both have seen reports of new fossils being found

As you say, it's legend

I see 'Scrooge-A Christmas Carol' with Alastair Sim is on 18th Dec @ 5.55pm....have made a note in my diary

on C5 that is...

You may find that Channel 5 shows the film twice, once in colour, the other in the original black and white. They've done that in previous years,
Talking Pictures channel is also showing it on Christmas Day at 12.45.

I did see that C5 were showing it twice, but that one they said is the original...so I'm assuming they mean the black & white version ?
I won't get chance to watch it on Christmas day...not at that time
