The 3,000 year old Avenue of Sphinxes in Luxor, Egypt has been opened to the public with a grand opening.
This is a 30 minute clip of the best moments of the ceremony.

Their ceremonies always have a mysterious air about them don't they ..quite romantic. It's  probably to do with the films I've  seen over the years.

Am using my tablet cos visiting family atm...my patience runs out using the touch screen keyboard and predictive text, that and I really should spend the time with my hosts back to normal Sunday

Hope all are well         Black Friday eh? Another overexaggerated high street imported con. Not that I would look - just going by the emails.

Good luck tonight Moons - see it's on Sky.

Have a good day ye all

Hi Velvet

I hope all is well with you and the family

Thanks. The way we’re playing of late we will need luck

I hope you have a good day too

As you say, there is an air of mystique about them

All's well here, Velvet and I hope all is well for you

I don't get too excited about Black Friday.
Apparently the first Black Friday was in 1869 when the gold stock market in the States collapsed on Friday 24th September in the States thanks to 2 Wall Street financiers speculating in that market causing a financial crisis.

Good morning everyone

Not nice weather here as across the UK, cold and very windy. More sleet/cold rain expected.

Moonie, I had seen that your team had a player sent off and that it was a goalless draw Cheltenham away to Bolton this afternoon, a harder match than the previous two.

I hope everyone has a good day and take care if you go out

We did have a poor game and only one point to show. Simply not good enough

I shall be keeping an eye on your game El

Moonie

One day you'll do my books. I trust you.

If you ran off with the money I'd still forgive you. It'd be hard but who cares...

You are a nice person. You are

Any professional accountant in public practice who stole money from clients would be guaranteed a prison sentence when caught and would definitely be thrown out of their accountancy institute. The courts and the accountancy institutes take a much tougher stance with such accountants than the general public. I have come across accountants who have stolen client money so know what happens. No sympathy for such a person with the damage they caused. It's not just them and the client(s, it's the devastating effect on the staff who worked with the thief as they may well lose their jobs even though they did nothing wrong.

I agree wholeheartedly with all you say El

@slimfern I noticed that the Paramount Network TV channel are showing "The Shepherd of the Hills"  (1941) on Monday at 2pm. Although it's got John Wayne in, it's not a western and the central character (played by Harry Carey), the shepherd of the title, is a stranger who comes to live there and tries to help people.  The film has some stunning photography in colour and there's a scene where sunlight is coming in a small farmhouse and one can see it lighting the dust particles in the air which is a truly beautiful scene.
The film does not appear to be on Youtube. The official trailer on Youtube gives a false impression as to the nature of the film so to be avoided. The first scene of the film is not typical of the film as it may give the viewer that it's a John Wayne western which it's not.

There is an error on the Radio Times website which has the film to be shown as the 1997 science fiction film "Contact" (Jodie Foster). The error is in the Radio Times database of programmes and films where searches for TSOTH will take you to "Contact". "Contact" is a much longer film and wouldn't fit a 2 hour timeslot.

Thanks El

Have you seen it?
Not a huge fan of John Wayne, but will watch if recommended
Sometimes the photography & scenery can make up for a poor script/bad acting..

I have seen "The Shepherd of the Hills" and thought it surprisingly good. Harry Carey is the real lead of the film and is very good. IMDB ratings show more at the higher grades than the lower ones with 13.7% of reviewers giving the top 10/10 rating. I wouldn't go that high but it's good.

I saw "Contact" at the cinema when it came out. It's based on a novel by Carl Sagan and is about the search for extraterrestrial intelligence. It's one of the most intelligent serious science fiction films made. It's very good but don't expect any action scenes, alien monsters, cute aliens or humour.
