Very pleased to hear this

I watched 'Cottage for Let' yesterday ...chaotic film with it's eccentricities
George Cole did a real good job in his performance... I liked his character
Worth the watch Thanks El

Thanks
"A Cottage to Let" had several actors who would become much better known in later years, besides Alastair Sim and George Cole" John Mills and Michael Wilding (several Anna Neagle films and "Under Capricorn"). At the time Leslie Banks was the best known which is why he was first in the credits.

Sir John Mills- a very accomplished actor and a good age when he died

I can't find the full film on you tube for this one El....only snippets and an audio version.
It's HG Wells yes?
I see there has been a remake with Lee Evans playing Mr Polly.

Yes, it's based on the novel by H G Wells. I can't find it on Youtube either. It does get shown on the Talking Pictures channel from time to time. I think it may have been on possibly last week. It's not on their schedules in the next 4 weeks but I think they will show it again in the not too distant future.

I had noticed the Lee Evans version when it was first shown on television and decided not to watch it. I can't see him being able to be anywhere near as good as John Mills.

Were you tempted by the Cheltenham Races today El?

I have zero interest in horse racing and have never gone to any. Never gone fishing either, When I was young I was out with a couple of friends, one of whom had an air gun. They saw a dragonfly so decided to shoot at it to amuse themselves. When they passed me the gun I deliberately missed as there was nothing amusing about it.

I'm happy to hear this El....it would be just mean to kill a dragonfly, they're such beautiful creatures. I often see them over our pond...so colourful and elegant.

I've been to a race course once with the ladies dart team, as a end of season day out. It wasn't anything like the scenes from 'My Fair lady' ....I wouldn't go again.

As you say, dragonflies are beautiful

My Dad and brother would fish for hours, either on the waterside or out in a boat, even snorkelling with a harpoon gun.
They always gutted, cleaned and cooked their catch unless it was too small, then they would throw back into the water.
Horrified me as a young girl
