The painting was trimmed at the sides, the top and the bottom many years ago so that it could fit the wall between two doors at Amsterdam's city hall.
AI has been used to create panels at either side so as to attempt to show what the painting would have looked like before it was trimmed.
Although the article refers to restoration, that's the side panels rather than the painting as has been known for generations.

A bit of blue sky here at present but mainly cloudy, more rain likely.

Looking at the forecast for Wimbledon, looking as if there will be a lot of repeats of past matches shown on television as Monday and Tuesday could be wash outs.
