Signing out, catch up tomorrow.
night yogi squiggle and summer
Good morning everyone
At present it looks as if the weather here has settled down and there may be some pleasantly sunny days and not bakingly hot
squiggle, I'm glad your exhaust has been fixed , I hope your knee hasn't suffered through having to sit in that uncomfortable chair.
Yesterday I went to the chuch bingo evening. On the night ÂĢ481 was raised for the Childrens Society. A representative from the Society is coming to give an address at tomorrow's service.
Good morning everyone, a lovely bright morning here today.
Thank you for asking Yogi and EL, my knee (and up towards my left hip) are a bit painful at the moment. I am not surprised because its been a week when I have hardly been able to rest it at all, but I have got through what I needed to.
Hope you enjoyed your meal Yogi, Summer enjoy yours tonight. Skylark hope you are well, Ros we were hoping we were going to see more of you in here during the day, hope to speak to you soon. EL your church did very well with that fund raising, that's quite an amount
Thank you for delicious bacon sarnies Summer. Have a good day everyone, speak to you later.
just popping in during the day for a change to say HELLO summer thank you for the veggie option EL fantastic fundraising LOL squiggle - been having to go into work cos changing classrooms but after Monday will pop in more in the day
laters
Squiggle, I hope you can rest your knee now after such a busy week.
Thanks Summer for the bacon sarnies
Besides the bingo night yesterday evening, earlier on in the week out church had a coffee morning for the Childrens Society which raised a further ÂĢ270, so that's around ÂĢ750 in all
Our church hall is used for many purposes besides church events. During the civil war in Sri Lanka with the Tamil Tigers, a lot of Sri Lankans fled the country and some settled here. There is an active Tamil Community Centre in Gloucestershire and a small part-time school was started by volunteers to teach Tamil to those who wanted to learn it. They hold their classes once a week in our hall. Tonight they are holding a curry evening to raise money for children back in Sri Lanka who were injured in the conflict. I only found out today that you had to pre-book to be able to go, but I hope that those who do go have a great time. Although the majority of Sri Lankans are Buddhists, the majority of the Tamils are Hindus.
Good afternoon everyone. Weather is lovely today - blue skies and sunshine.
El, the people in your church do a brilliant job with their fundraising activities.
Squiggle, I hope you are able to take things easy this weekend, you need to rest your knee as much as you can.
Ros, lovely to see you in here during the day. I look forward to chatting with you more often, now school hols are here.
Summer, thank you for the bacon sandwiches - yummy!
Skylark and Joyron, hope to see you later.
I've gone a bit overboard with the smilies.
Do you mean, how did we decide on the particular pup?
With our first dog, we went to see the breeder when the pups were four weeks old.
There were five pups to chose from and three were bitches (which we wanted).
One of the pups came up to Mr Yogi, full of beans and gorgeous. As soon as he picked her up, she was perfectly calm and snuggled into him. Our boys were young at that time, so we wanted a pup that would be energetic enough to put up with the rough and tumble of the boys but wasn't hyper. Bonnie was ideal. She was the perfect dog with the boys and was very calm and not at all nervous.
We got her when she was six weeks old and never had a bit of bother with her - except when she rubbed her neck in cow dung!
When we went to get Keira, the breeder only had her and her brother left (again we wanted a bitch) so we only had to decide whether or not to take her. Keira's breeders had been showing and breeding dogs for donkey's years - very reputable and very successful - Keira had actually been the pick of the litter and they were going to keep her for showing and breeding, but changed their minds - they decided to stop breeding and concentrate on showing, and letting out their stud dog so they kept the boy instead.
As soon as we saw her, we had to have her, she was the most beautiful pup. She and her brother ran about the (gigantic) kitchen like nutters and then collapsed under the table for a snooze. When my son picked her up, she was calm and happily licked his face. There was never any possibility we weren't taking her home.
You and Mr Summer are very energetic, so you don't want a low energy pup but you are also both at work, so you need one which is calm and won't get stressed when you are out at work.
You know that Stream's owners take good care of her, so I don't need to warn you about checking for clear eyes and signs of worms etc. in the puppies.
I am so excited for you, I adore the puppy stage - even though there is a bit of hard work involved.
I am sure you will choose well.
Edit to add, this is one of the longest posts I've ever written. I can't half waffle when I start talking about my dogs.
Thanks El, I love dogs (can you tell?).

Really, I would never had guessed

I agree, you can never have too many smilies
A very good post about picking your dog Yogi When we chose our beagle we had a similar experience. He fitted into my hand he was so tiny (we went back when he was ready to leave his Mum) and I remember how important he felt (you could tell) when he was allowed out to greet us from the corner where his mum and brothers and sisters were.

Aww Squiggle, he sounds fabulous.
Was he the one who wasn't very brave, and hid behind Mr Squiggle when he went to investigate strange noises at night?
Sorry I took a while to reply, I went out for a walk with Keira.

Yes he was Yogi, and he was convinced that everybody in the entire world loved him if he could just get to them so every time anyone came to the front door he legged it (we used to chase him all around the neighbourhood and once he was found in the local butchers ) which sounds funny but it was a pain.
Aww Summer I hope it lives up to your expectations

Squiggle, I know that must have driven you mad - but it does sound funny (especially being found in the butchers).
Summer, I think the puppy who gets you for their owner, will be a very lucky one indeed.
Enjoy your meal tonight, I hope you and Mr Summer have a lovely night.
Hi all x
I signed in earlier but couldnt post, after half an hour i gave up !
We got our dog when she was 6 weeks old, she was tiny and had been rejected by her mum She is now nearly 12 and still full of energy. Love her to bits
Hi Skylark.
One of hubby's workmates has taken on a wee staffie from one of the dog charity organisations. He says she's so good natured and smart too.
hi Yogi x A lot of people cant handle staffies, they are very energetic and very intelligent so get bored easily. But they are so loving . We have started spelling out things now, but she has cottoned on to that too ! I ask my son if he can take her to the p.a r.k , and her ears pop up !

We are convinced that Keira knows what w.a.l.k. spells.

Well said Yogi, Summer the puppy you get will bring such pleasure into your lives and I know they will be such a happy dog
Yogi and Skylark did you see that Undercover Boss recently where it was the CEO of Blue Cross? They are overwhelmed with Staffies, such lovely dogs and the breed that my grandson would love to own. His Dad had one when my grandson was a baby, a real sweetheart bitch and his heart is set on owning one.
Just had my daughter on the phone talking about Amy Winehouse, she is the same age , 27. She has got herself a bit upset.
Aww Skylark, it must be difficult for her. I hope she's okay.
She is fine Yogi, just brings it home doesnt it.
Anyway, no i didnt see that one squiggle, i usually watch Undercover Boss too, not sure how i missed that one, maybe it was when i was away

No, I missed that programme, I wish I'd seen it.
Mr Yogi was always a bit unsure of Staffies and wouldn't believe me that the breed is so loyal, friendly and clever. Then, one day we were at the shops in the village and there was a little Staffie tied up outside the newsagents (waiting for her owner). Mr Yogi went over to put something in the bin beside her and she was so sweet and friendly, he completely changed his opinion of the breed.
I hate the fact that idiot thugs have given Staffies a bad rep.
Hope your grandson gets his Staffie one day.

It does.
Going for a bath, be back later.
Eldest son has been on the phone to ak if I'll look after his labrador (I forgot to ask how long he'll be staying) - it's a good job I love dogs.
