A fairly busy day for me work wise but at least was able to make some progress
Evening all
El, Iβm glad you were able to make some progress with your work
Itβs so annoying when drivers cause damage and just drive off
I hope everyone has had a good day

Good morning everyone it's another cloudy day to come.
Enjoy your day everyone
Good morning everyone
Rather cloudy here.
Don't expect to see anything of today's solar eclipse. Best chance is the far north of Scotland, little chance the further south you are. Times vary across the country. If you want to see the time you could use:
https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/in/uk
11.10 am here but as it's cloudy and only 20% of the sun would be covered the effect won't be noticeable.
I hope everyone has a good day
Hi, nothing really to see here in central Scotland as it's 100% cloud cover so a bit dull anyway. I suppose it might be a bit dimmer than it might otherwise be at the projected partial eclipse time (30% coverage of the sun between 10:10 and 11:20), but I doubt you'd really notice the difference!

Hi Fluffy
Too cloudy here to even bother to check if I could see it

How medieval pointy-toed shoes lead to a sharp increase in bunions in the 14th and 15th centuries:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-...bridgeshire-57427365
Those shoes were called crakows and it's thought that they originated in KrakΓ³w.
The surname Bunyan is not connected with the word bunion. Bunyan was derived from the Welsh "ab-Enion" meaning son of Enion.
Good afternoon Buddies
A quick visit to let you know all is well with me. I sincerely hope it with you too
Enjoy your day everyone
You better be okay
If I were to ask who was connected with:
"Carve her Name with Pride" (book and film)
"84 Charing Cross Road" (book by Helene Hanff and film)
and "Peeping Tom" (1960 film)
it's unlikely that you would know. It was Leo Marks. The name is unlikely to be familiar but his connections are quite interesting.
The bookshop of "84 Charing Cross Road" was Marks & Co - he was the son of the owner,
During WW2 he worked for the Special Operations Executive (SOE). In that capacity he was responsible for writing code poems for those going undercover and wrote the famous poem used in "Carve her Name with Pride"
After WW2 he wrote some film screenplays, notably Michael Powell's "Peeping Tom".
Evening all
Glad you are well, Moonie
Hope all is well with you, Velvet
El, I have seen βCarve her name with prideβ but didnβt know any of that info

The most taxing thing I will be doing over the weekend is the βduvet shuffleβ ie changing my duvet cover and washing it and a few other things

At least you'll have some football to watch for the next few weeks with the Copa America tournament starting in Brazil tomorrow - BBC to show all the games via iPlayer and their website

Morning troops
Hope all is sorted Moons and Yogi's rib is fusing. Throw in some sleep
Good to read you're still busy El
What's climate change. 400 miles to the south of England. Doesn't look too bad but this is mid June and it's been awful.
Good afternoon Velvet
Thanks re my work
Here it could get to 28Β° tomorrow so would be the hottest day of the year so far, a lot warmer than Scotland
Evening all
Thanks Velvet. The rib is still painful at night so Iβm not getting a lot of sleep but it isnβt as sore during the day.
Moonie, I hope you arenβt aching too much
El, will you stay in the shade tomorrow if it gets to 28 degrees?
Squiggle, I hope your promised sunshine arrived

Hi Yogi
I hope you and your rib are feeling much better very soon π π
I still havenβt done the βduvet shuffleβ yet. That is for tomorrow
The only time I will go out tomorrow is to put the washing out and fetch it in
On the plus side, I have done three lots of washing today and itβs all dry
Thanks Moonie, I think the rib just needs time to heal. Iβm sure itβll be okay in a couple of weeksπ€π»
lol I donβt blame you postponing the duvet shuffle
I had to put netting around my patio fruit trees in an attempt to protect the fruit from the birds and the squirrel. Hopefully, it will work π€π»π
