Good evening everyone

Weather was dry until teatime when we had a shower.

El, I hope you had a lovely catch up with your brotherâ€Ķ.and I’m glad the call didn’t last for hours 😂

Love the statue, I’m a fan of Wallace and Gromit.

Velvet, I hope you’ve had a good day

No Moonie? Hope he is feeling okay

A Youtube clip which claims to show every cameo appearance by Alfred Hitchcock in his films:

Note that the second clip from "The Lodger" is disputed.
Also it's not complete as it omits his appearance in his 1932 film "Number Seventeen". Apparently he's one of the passengers in the bus at just after 51 minutes 25 seconds , possibly the one by the window on the left:

loved those - thank you EL - knew Hitchcock did Cameos but never seen them before

For some years I've been printing off a number of my business letters which have my business heading at the top and a statement that I'm a member of my institute at the bottom (that's a requirement) to have a small stock of them to use when I need to write to a client, etc. Many years ago I had them printed by a printer, then eventually just used my photocopier. That copier packed up so I used my printer instead. My printer isn't able to print what I'll call the header and also what I'll call the footer on one page. So I had created one file with just the header and another with just the footer. Then print off a number of copies with the header, turn round the paper and reprint the pages with the footer.

Having used up my supply I tried to print another batch of copies. No problem with the header but a different matter with the footer. This is the first time since I moved to Windows 10 that I've tried to do this. When I came to try to print off the footer, it decided to print the footer vertically rather than horizontally which was useless.

To cut a long story short this is what I did. I had kept one copy of the original printed letter. Scanned that as a photograph. Then loaded the photograph into Paint. Then used a brush with white colour to remove the header part and saved the result as a pdf.

It works
(I know I could use headers and footers in Word but I wanted the style I have been using for years)

I had been using Windows 7 until the main hard drive packed up. That was replaced earlier this year but they would not put Windows 7 on as that's no longer supported. So it was either Windows 8 or Windows 10. Windows 10 was the obvious choice as that can be used in a way not dissimilar to Windows 7. I got this done by my very local computer place and I wasn't charged for Windows but it's not a national outfit, just for local businesses and people.

I get quite aggravated by the updates, not by the daily/weekly ones, but by the major 7 to 8, 8 to 10 ones, where again we have no choice but to spend money...in this day and age it would appear access to the wide web is a necessity, therefore it should be accessible and cheap, if not free imo

Good morning everyone

Mainly sunny here at present.

Yogi, thanks re me able to sort the problem out
The other thing I sorted out yesterday was the business client letter template I use which uses Word mail merge. Although I was still able to use the template I had been using with Windows 7, the link to my client names & addresses database was broken on the new system. Could still use it but had to link it to the database each time I used it as resaving the template didn't keep the link. Sorted it out by redoing the mail merge process from scratch.
This wasn't as a result of moving to Windows 10 but in the way Word operates.

I hope everyone has a good day

Just sent a rather long email to a client. Hopefully he'll take his time to read it and to ring me if and when he's got questions.
Hels been letting a property for some years. Because he had been paying quite high mortgage interest he hadn't ever made a taxable profit. He still got me to do rent accounts for each tax year and post them to HMRC even though he didn't need to.
Then he renegotiated the interest and the year for 5 April 2021 is the first time there's a tax liability.
So he will have to inform HMRC. He has various options. He will have to decide it he does that himself or get me to do a tax return for him,
So that's what my email was about. Nearly 1,000 words long

Evening all

Mostly cloudy but a few sunny spells.

Moonie, I’m glad you aren’t ill and hope you get your other problems sorted soon

El, you are very good at problem solving
I can’t drive atm as the driver’s side seatbelt hurts my rib so MrY picked up the tiddlers from school. While he was parked and in at the school, someone scraped the passenger side front wing, near the headlightâ€Ķâ€Ķ.at least that’s hubby’s story and he is sticking to it.

As you all know, my blackbird looks in the kitchen window when he wants his raisins. Today, he went one stage further and when I was in the bathroom washing my hands, he appeared at the bathroom window. He’d obviously seen my silhouette from the fence and got fed up waiting for me to come downstairs 😂😂

Good morning everyone

A mainly sunny day here.

Yogi, at your blackbird.
Re your car. Years ago when I was the church treasurer I would count the money after the morning service and would be the last person to leave the church. When I saw my car in the church carpark I noticed a very obvious deep scratch all along the passenger side of the car. It would have been caused by an older car with a stainless steel strip along the sides of it and the end of the strip had become loose. Quite common to see such cars years ago but rare nowadays. Unless the driver of the car had been totally deaf they would have known that they had scraped my car. Never found out who had done this.

I hope everyone has a good day
