Hope you are feeling better today squiggle x

Welcome back, Skylark.

Brilliant news about Downton Abbey, I'm sure your e-mail helped.

I think my cucumbers may have a fungal infection. On closer inspection there is some white, powdery mould on the plants.

Yogi it has been very humid lately here, has it been there too and would that affect your greenhouse or is it caused by other things?

Thank you EL, I am trying to rest it as much as possible and hoping that next week won't be quite as mad as this week and I can coddle it a bit more.

Enjoy your walk Skylark, I am glad that you can enjoy Downton Abbey you are in for a treat, must have been your email that did the trick

See you later Yogi x

Yes, its nice STV have seen sense re Downton Abbey , there was a big hoo ha, up here that the rest of the UK were watching the last series, and it was in all the papers etc and we didnt know what it was all about. Not everyone has Sky or cable channels.

How is Billy and his bouncing ball? i was nearly accusing him of sabotage!

When I first saw the broken cucumber, that did cross my mind.

The ball hasn't been in my garden since hubby has a chat with his dad. He still plays with the basketball, so he must be being more careful.

Sweet dreams buddies Speak to you all tomorrow I love downtown abbey too, I think Scotland should have it, the same time as everyone else! I love autumn so there's just another reason to enjoy it this year I keep meaning to ask you all about Mildred Pierce; did you see the original with Joan in? And are any of you watching the new tv series with Kate Winslet? I'm loving the series!
~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Mildred Pierce is being shown on Sky Atlantic, and only Sky subscribers can see it, so I won't get to see it.

When I was a child I hated cucumber and refused to ever eat it. That was the only vegetable I hated. Although I eat it now if I'm served it, I can't say I like it, I just tolerate it.

El Loro

Good morning everyone, grey and drizzly here.  Thank you for your good wishes EL, I am just waiting in for my grocery delivery (I had to change the time 3 times this week as I frantically tried to fit in with my grandson's schedule) and then I am off to get the exhaust done.

I am watching Mildred Pierce and really enjoying it, there's not a lot of new stuff I want to watch, I don't like violence much, but that is really good.  I have tried The Hour (anyone else watching it?) but so far I am not sure about it.

I am glad Mr. Yogi's 'word in the ear' seems to have done the trick.  Its clammy again here this morning and if you get conditions like that up where you live I am not surprised that mould tries to creep its way in.  I have the dehumidifier going full blast shifting the moisture out of the house again.

Squiggle, I am watching The Hour. I think it could be one of those series which slowly builds on you. It has a much higher calibre of actors than the majority of series, and it does have promise.

The credits at the end were so small as to be unreadable but this is a photo of the actress who plays Marnie Madden, the wife of the full of himself new presenter.

She has appeared in television before, but is probably best known for who her grandfather was. When I say that her name is Oona Chaplin, you will immediately know who I mean. She is also the great granddaughter of Eugene O'Neill.

El Loro

Yogi, I hope you enjoyed your lunch. Many years ago, when I was working for my old firm, at the end of a client's audit, the client took us out for a Chinese meal in the evening. My boss at the time went with us and we were a bit embarrassed when we were sitting down in the restaurant and he announced to us that he didn't like Chinese food and insisted on settling for fish and chips which they had on the menu. He wasn't prepared to try any of the food the rest of us had. Dishes such as sweet and sour chicken and lemon chicken are generally liked by people who have never eaten Chiinese food, but he wasn't to be tempted.

I've just completed a particularly complicated tax return for a client. I used my tax software to do this and also replicated the tax calculation on a spreadsheet. It was more complicated than normal because of the capital gains. The way capital gains tax works changed from 23 June 2010. It is very unusual to have a change part way through the tax year - it was because of the change in government leading to an extra budget last year. I was far from certain that my tax software would work the tax out correctly, but it worked out the tax to exactly the same as my spreadsheet.

El Loro

I had a lovely lunch, El. Mr Yogi and I do enjoy Chinese food.

We went for a buffet style meal, which suits us both, as I don't like huge portions and hubby does.

I can never understand people who say they don't like a particular type of food, if they haven't even tried it. We brought our sons up to at least have a go and try different foods.

Well done on sorting out the Capital Gains Tax calculation. It sounds really complicated, I would be so useless at anything like that.

I think that was El Loro's post, Squiggle.

My Yogi has the day off, so we're going to a local Chinese restaurant for lunch.

Be back later.

Yes of course you're right Yogi, its been a stressful week.

I have the exhaust done now but it was 3 hours sitting in a very uncomfortable chair, the guy gave me 20% off though, but it was still so tiring.

I do agree with you both about at least trying different foods.  I would be embarrassed to go into a Chinese Restaurant and only want fish and chips.  The same as those who go on holiday to Spain or somewhere and only want burger and chips.

Why did it take so long to get your exhaust replaced, were they really busy?

Getting 20% off was good though.

That's good, Squiggle.

How's your knee been today?
