Dante's "Divine Comedy" is available in book form in three volumes, "Hell" (which was the subject of the documentary), "Purgatory" and "Paradise".  The Penguin Classics version is one of the most highly regarded English versions. It was translated by someone that might surprise you - Dorothy L Sayers.

There are other versions including one by someone even more surprising - Clive James.

Received the first two volumes of "The Divine Comedy" today with the third to follow. The Dorothy L Sayers version I mentioned. Dante completed this in 1320 and died a year later. As this year is the 700th anniversary of his death, Italy is holding a series of events. There is also a major Italian tv series being developed as an adaptation -  huge undertaking as it's intended to have 100 episodes. There's to be a 3 part film series connected with that series. Italian though there seems to be some English speaking actors involved. Don't know if that would ever get shown in this country though. The Sky Arts documentary is watchable, a film version is a different matter altogether.

Just cut the front grass to keep up appearances.

Last cut Thursday. I liked Hyancith Bouquet

Hope all are A74. Racing circuit. Or A1 hopefully

I also like "Hetty Wainthropp Investigates", same actress - Patricia Routledge. Her young assistant in that was a very early role for Dominic Monaghan before he was in "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy and the series "Lost".

Time flies.

Dalziel and Pascal were once current. The great Warren Clarke.

A vast improvement over "A Pinch of Snuff" (1994), the Hale (Dalziel)  and Pace (Pascoe) TV adaptation which was dreadful. There was only the one series made. Reginald Hill, who wrote the books, supposedly hated it so much that he refused to let them make any more.

I haven’t seen that version and judging from what you say, I won’t be any time soon

I don't think it's been repeated and I don't think it was ever released on DVD. Although IMDB has a page on it, there's no user reviews. It may be that the broadcaster agreed to lose it so that they would be able to make the Warren Clarke series which started a couple of years later.
Although Hale and Pace were the leads, it wasn't a comedy, grade Z drama.
