I hate car insurance websites.

I put in all my details and all my requirements and they came up with some quotes.

However, once I went into those quotes and checked the policy detail, I found that most of my requirements come under "add ons" and mean paying a lot more than the original quote.

I gave them all the requirements at the beginning, so why give a quote which doesn't include them?!!

Rant over.

It's just as well you checked on the policy details - it makes these comparison sites a bit useless if you have to then traipse through the fine print to see what the true cost is.

Exactly!

Late yesterday afternoon I got an email from my accountancy institute. Amongst the bits of news was a warning that the Inland Revenue have had delays in sending out some of the tax bills which a lot of people who complete tax returns have to pay by the end of this month. My institute advised us to get in touch with every one of our clients who might be affected to check if they had received their tax bill and if not to tell them what to do. If people don't pay their tax by 31 July they get charged interest. Not getting a bill from the Revenue would not be regarded by the Revenue as an acceptable excuse for not paying.

So I then had to go through every one of my clients to list those who did have tax to pay. I then contacted each one. Where there was no reply I left a message on their answerphone to ring me if they hadn't received their bill.

As you can imagine I wasn't too pleased about this as it is a waste of my time, and my telephone bill will be higher as a result.

I can report that of all the people I know who have tax to pay at the end of July, just one person had not received their bill.

I will have to leave more big hugs I can see that for Yogi and El Loro who have left rants today and have obviously had an extremely fraught time, I wonder if its something in the air as it has been that way all day for me, my grandson and his girlfriend (they are going to be apart for the first time since they started going out together).

Thanks for the yummy breakfast Summer, I don't want to think about the calories in that but it looks delicious.

squiggle

Thanks also for the hug, squiggle . I think it may be National Rant Day

I hope your car has been sorted out now, and your grandson's phone.

Yogi, what a palaver over your car insurance.

squiggle, there's a posting on the Social Strata help forum that they didn't intend to have signatures appearing on every post, just on the opening post on a thread, so they will put it back to how it was.

I really feel for young people who are out there looking for work, it is very hard for them atm.

Sorry I didn't reply earlier, Squiggle - Mr Yogi arrived home much earlier than expected and middle son and his fiancee popped in for a visit.

Good morning everyone, quite a nice morning here.  I hope I can rest my knee today before I have to drive again tomorrow.  I went to National for my exhaust and I must say they do seem to give good value for money and a nice polite service.

I think it was the battery with my grandson's phone.  Luckily he managed to find his phone for ÂĢ10 in Argos, you just had to buy ÂĢ10 worth of top-up at the same time, so he switched sim cards and he's in business again.  It was a very fraught day though.

Hope everyone has a good day today.

Good morning everyone. Weather is dry and mild atm.

Hope you got a good night's sleep, Squiggle.

Went into the greenhouse to water the plants this morning, and discovered one of the cucumber plants had died. It had more than a dozen cucumbers growing on it, and appeared to have snapped off from the main stem - very strange.

Afternoon all Oh my goodness it sounds like you all had a lot of tension yesterday I hope everyone is having a calmer day today Yogi, sorry I vanished suddenly y'day, I fully intended to reply from my phone but found myself running running late to meet a friend. We celebrated her birthday with a lunch out As for your car insurance, I have found comparison websites to be the same and simply went with direct line last year- my insurance is always due the week before Christmas, so trawling through sites is something I can't be chewed with.. I hope you are happy with the company you're with
