Agreed, Summer.

I also change the bedding on the day we go on holiday, so that we return to a nice, fresh bed.

Very true, Squiggle.

When Mr Yogi and I have gone on holidays, our eldest and middle sons always made sure they had done the washing, hoovering, polishing and washed up before we returned home - youngest son is a different kettle of fish. Now that he is the only one still remaining at home, on all future holidays I will expect to return to a layer of dust on everything and an overflowing laundry basket. Although, now that we have a dishwasher, he might do the washing up.

Caught up with the washing ! My daughter and the wee one stayed when i was away as the dog wont stay with anyone, she cries to get home. The house wasnt too bad! It wasnt my main concern, i just needed to get away. Yes its nice to have my own bed , i was sleeping with my sister who snores
Is your kitchen up and running now Yogi? Lovely having a dishwasher x

FM

Yes, the kitchen is finished - it took a bit longer than I expected, but it is looking good.

It isn't a big kitchen so we had to do some serious planning to get the best possible use of space - and accommodate the giant fridge Mr Yogi had to have.

I love having a dishwasher, but I do some washing up now and then, just to keep my hand in.

It's good to know your kitchen is finished and it's looking good, Yogi

I quite often look at the BBFC website (British Board of Film Certificators) to see what films and DVDs are coming. I was slightly surprised to see 2 films certificated in the last few days for release in cinemas. They were Gilda (the original with Rita Hayworth) and Kind Hearts and Coronets (again the original with Dennis Price & Alec Guiness). No-one has dared remade them - yet.

Thanks El.

I hope they don't ever remake those films, remakes are rarely as good as the originals, IMO.

Thank you, Squiggle - and even with all the chaos, I didn't lose the plot once.

No No No remakes, why no originality of writers these days ? I find it rather sad that some have to remake some all time greats . In my opinion , they will never do it right, or find the essence of the original

I totally agree with you. The majority of remakes are a waste of time and money. There have been exceptions but they are rare. The Peter Jackson remake of King Kong was one of the exceptions. Although it couldn't match the original in terms of emotion, it was very well made, and I thought that the first part of the film showing the time up to the arrival at Skull Island was a lot better than the original.

I haven't seen the recent True Grit, but that sounds as if that could be an improvement. And the the Judy Garland version of A Star is Born is a remake, but it's her version which is remembered.

Good morning everyone. It's raining up here.

Looks like there have been some changes to the forum overnight. The sigs are back and the layout has changed, too. Edit to add, the delete and edit buttons are up on the right-hand side of the posts now.

Baz, sorry I missed you last night but I'm glad you are feeling a bit better.

Good morning everyone

Baz, I hope those antibiotics sort out your water infection From what I've heard from others, they generally deal with it quickly.

There was an update to the forum last night which is why those cogs were going mad. The only change which is of any note besides the ones Yogi has spotted is we now have larger avatars and our names have been moved to being under the avatars.

squiggle, Rita Hayworth was very definitely a redhead

A Star is Born was first made in 1937 with Fredric March and Janet Gaynor. It is supposed to be a good film, but I've never seen it shown on television. The first remake in 1954 with James Mason and Judy Garland is one of the few remakes which made people forget about the original. I haven't seen the 1976 remake with Kris Kristofferson and Barbra Streisand. And it's rumoured that yet another remake is to be made for release in 2013 with Leonardo diCaprio.
