Evening all

It has been sunny with a very icy wind.
Moonie, I don’t blame you for stopping in when you had snow

El, I didn’t know what Helios Seaforth was either

Velvet, I remember my parents having a Jim Reeves record - I think it was, I love you because.

I hope everyone has had a good day.

Luckily it wasn’t but a few flakes

That makes three of us then

Moonie

I've been looking at HMRC's notices to file tax returns to clients for the year to 5 April 2021 as those became available overnight. Contacting a couple of clients who have been issued notices though they have ceased to be self-employed. One of those I was expecting as she had notified them last October. The other was a maybe.

Afternoon all

Sun is shining but it’s bitterly cold and we even had a quick snow flurry.

Happy New Tax Year to you too, El

I had a day out today, aka a hospital appointment. I know how to live it up.

I hope you are all doing something more interesting than me.

It’s Bake Off tonight so I won’t be on later. Enjoy the rest of your day, everyone

Hi Yogi

Its cold here and we have had two flurries of snow but it didn’t stick on the road and footpaths

Like El, I hope your hospital appointment went well

I hope you enjoy your evening

I wonder how many self employed people who do their own tax return and received self employed income support scheme grants will miss those grants off their tax return. I had expected them to go in the other income box on returns but that's not the case. Although other corona related grants do go in that box, the SEISS grants don't.
In short form self employed pages there's a new box 27.1 for those (that's after box 27 which is for goods and/or services for your own use).
In the long form there's a new box 70.1 which is after box 70 which is for overlap relief carried forward.

Although the separate guide for self-employment pages makes that clear, anyone who doesn't look at the guide is likely to omit the SEISS grants particularly on the long form

Good morning everyone.

Weather is cold, showery and blustery.
El, I love Call The Midwife and am looking forward to the new series. Box of tissues is required for every episode.

It’s another Great British Menu night so I won’t be around tonight. Enjoy your day and stay cosy, everyone.

Hi Yogi

My sister loves it too Yogi. I’m sure she will have the obligatory box of tissue at the ready too

Enjoy your day too and stay warm and cosy

I hope you enjoy the day as well

I think they are doing the various cooking programmes at present as sport will take over television. The Euros from 11 June to 11 July. Wimbledon fortnight 28 June to 11 July (though may get postponed by a week as the French Open has. Then the Olympics 23 July to 8 August. That's if they take place.

You forgot the snooker El

πŸ€” fair enough

I don't know what the BBC will do in terms of the Olympics in their scheduling as Japan is 8 hours ahead of the UK so evenings here are middle of the night there so won't be any live coverage during the evenings here. (as far as Freeview channels are concerned, BBC has the Olympics & Wimbledon, BBC and ITV share the Euros). BBC also has the snooker Wold Championships starting in 11 days time though on BBC Two or Four.
