Watched the 1943 Humphrey Bogart film "Sahara".  I don't generally watch war films but this one was also a character study where there's a group of soldiers from different countries. Americans, British, a French man, a Sudanese man, an Italian prisoner and also a German Nazi. Early roles for Dan Duryea and Lloyd Bridges.

The Sudanese man was played by Rex Ingram. The film is notable for being one of the rare films of that time where a black man is the equal of any of the others.

The film is American but the director was Zoltan Korda who came from Hungary, moved to this country with his brother Alexander and directed some of the London Films films. The music was by Miklos Rózsa. There is a connection between Rex Ingram, Zoltan Korda and Miklos Rózsa. That's the 1940 film "The Thief of Bagdad".  Ingram was the genie, Korda was one of the directors though not credited, and Rózsa the composer (and also credited with the story though not the script).

Thanks Moonie, there has been quite a lot of sunshine but the clouds are more noticeable now.

Talking with my brother on the phone just now. He said he'd received the census letter and had already done his census online. He must be one of the first people in the country to do that. Census date is Sunday 21st March. I only became aware of it yesterday and haven't received any letter.

Taking place in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Delayed in Scotland until next year.

We had our Census form early last week. Yet to fill it in

If I haven't received the letter by next weekend, I'll have to assume that it's been lost and I'll have to get a replacement code.

"It is an offence to supply false information or to not complete the census, and you could be fined up to £1,000. Some questions are clearly labelled as voluntary. It is not an offence if you do not answer these."

Cheltenham beat  Port Vale 3-2. The concern is that Cheltenham had been 3-0 until the 83rd minute.

Good morning everyone it's very cold this morning and likely to stay that way with some sunny intervals. I received my census form on Tuesday or Wednesday and filled it in online the same day.  I'm sure there were many questions on there we hadn't had to answer before.

Its a dull start to the day. Expected to stay dry with a high of just 6 degree

It doesn’t feel to cold outside so I may go out for a walk later

I’ve just been out to the recycle bin and it’s quite cool and breezy

So a change of weather. The weather brightened up so I went up the park for a walk. Still a little cool but on the way round the sun burst out so rather nice now

No it isn’t. I am resigned to us going down. The only thing is we made a pot of money being promoted. Not much of a consolation though to be honest.
