No news yet on my computer. My brother gave me a Asus notebook a few years ago. I've never used it but set it up to  be able to see any urgent emails sent to me. Screen far to small for comfortable reading.

I think it's a problem with the computer hard drive though go zero warnings of a problem beforehand. I keep all client data files on a separate removable drive and make regular backups on another removable drive so if the hard drive is bust then I haven't lost any client data.

Just as well this happened yesterday rather then earlier so my tax return work got gone in time.

Minimal ports on this notebook so it doesn't look as if I can access external drives at the same time as being connected to the internet.

I'll try to pop in again soon to let you have an update on the computer

I'm a creature of habit. I dunno if computer fixers are open here. Hope you get one.

I rang the place I bought the computer from- it's just down the road from me. It's part shop, part workshop as it's main business is providing computer support to businesses including some much larger then mine. The shop part isn't open for business but the workshop and business support is still available.
Businesses where the main activity is electronic repair services are permitted to remain open. It's similar to vehicle repair places can stay open but car showrooms can't. That's the position in England.

my phone has been fixed, hurrah! My poor old iPad is like a dinosaur now, it should be in a museum lol but I’m grateful it got me on here so I could get in touch. I really do rely on my phone a lot!

Hi everyone

Got my computer back this afternoon. I am far from certain that the problem has been resolved.

On Monday. while the anti-virus scan was in progress (I've set it so that it runs daily at my lunchtime) I found that it had stalled. Had to turn the computer off at the power switch. When I came to turn it on, the computer no longer recongnised my profile.
It appears that the scan was done yesterday. Too later to run the scan today. So it won't be until after lunchtime tomorrow before I know if the problem was really been resolved.

Good morning everyone

Thanks everyone re my computer I've changed the antiscan so that it will next run on Sunday evening. So if the computer freezes again I can then take it back to my computer repair people on Monday. My a/v scan sends any viruses detected through to the virus chest. Looking at that shows that it's empty. I'm careful with sites I visit, I don't look at attachments or go to links on suspect emails, the a/v monitors sites which are suspect and sends a warning if for some reason I'm trying to access one. So that would be why the virus chest is empty.

Fairish weather here today. Looks as if it could turn cold and snowy from Sunday so could cause problems.
