Minor British comedy called "Father's Doing Fine" (1952) currently on Talking Pictures channel which shows it from time to time. A still from that film:
You'll recognise Virginia McKenna and the film was her first film.
Evening all
Heavy rain overnight but dried up in the afternoon.
I hope you have all had a good day

Heavy rain expected tomorrow and Sunday
My day has been good, I hope yours has too
Evening Moonie
Your weather has definitely been better than mine. My washing had to go into the tumble dryer.
Sorry you have rain forecast for the weekend. I think we have showers/rain forecast for the next 6 days
What are you watching tonight? Iâm watching a nature programme on BBC2
Goodnight and sweet dreams, Moonie and Ros

Itâs good to have a tumble dryer. Unfortunately no room in our kitchen for one ð
It doesnât really matter about the weather over the weekend tbh Yogi. Nothing planned and no shopping to do
I have a recorded football game on currently

Enjoy your day everyone
Good morning everyone

I hope that's just a temporary problem. I don't use gmail so can't check it out. I do have a google account which I hardly ever use, signed in but nothing odd happened.

Good
Written by George Axlerod, whose previous film was Breakfast at Tiffany's. and features Frank Sinatra and Angela Lansbury who had previously been in the 1946 musical "Till the Clouds Roll By", the film "The Manchurian Candidate" (1962) (not the remake) is on BBC Two tonight.
Much darker than those films. Angela Lansbury's best film (she was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actress) and her role is very different to Murder She Wrote.

I may well stay up to watch that El

I have seen it before, not that long ago. Very good black and white paranod thriller.

Yes, Moonie. It's been a bit of a see-saw recently In 3rd place, then lose and drop to 6th, then win and back up to 3rd, then lose and drop to 6th, then win today and back up to 6th. A lot of teams with only a few points between them.

Still itâs better to see-saw around the top than the bottom El
Hi and bye tonight
Weather wasnât great but not too chilly.
Mr Y and I decided to invest in a treadmill. Our (already rubbish) fitness levels plummeted during shielding and with Scottish autumnal/wintery weather not being conducive to walking outdoors, we thought a treadmill might be useful. Iâve never been on one before and was knackered after a few minutesð but I will persevere
Goodnight and sweet dreams, Moonie and Ros
Hug for any night owls

Hi Yogi
The weather is dire here too and set to get worse tomorrow
Good luck with the treadmill. Rather you than me
The thing is to start off very slowly and work up so you donât damage yourself ð
My exercise is going up and down stairs at least 25 times a day
Night night, sleep well, sweet dreams
Good morning everyone it's a very windy morning and another wet day ahead. I watched An Affair to Remember yesterday, I don't know how many times I've watched it but I enjoyed it just as much.
Enjoy your day everyone
Good morning everyone
Raining here, doesn't seem to be as windy as yesterday.
Yogi, I hope the treadmill helps
Squiggle, I've seen both "An Affair to Remember" and the original "Love Affair" (1939), both of which are good. Grandmother Janou was played by Cathleen Nesbitt in "An Affair to Remember" and Maria Ouspenskaya in "Love Affair". Maria Ouspenskaya's role was small but made the film. I've never bothered to watch the 1994 remake "Love Affair" (Warren Beatty & Annette Bening) but the grandmother was played by Katharine Hepburn.
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning everyone
Wet overnight but the sun has just burst through. The weather forecast says sunny intervals changing to cloudy by lunchtime
El, I didnât get round to watching the Manchurian Candidate. I nodded off
Have a great day everyone

You can watch it on BBC iplayer if you wanted to - it's available for 6 days. It's not Hamlet but some have compared the Angela Lansbury's character as a bit like Gertrude, Hamlet's mother.

Thanks for the info
BBC Two seems to be having some good films in the afternoons at the weekend. Next Saturday they are showing "Brief Encounter" which is an outstanding film.
On Sunday they have "The Apartment" (1960) which was directed by Billy Wilder and starred Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine. It's highly regarded though it's not a film I liked at all. A man tries to rise in his company by letting its executives use his apartment for trysts, but complications and a romance of his own ensue.
The two films are connected though are very different. In Brief Encounter there's a scene where the two leads do go to a flat but nothing untoward happens as they are interrupted. Billy Wilder used that scene as the basis for "The Apartment".
I don't know if BBC Two or TV magazines will mention that.
Evening all
Weather has been dreich today.
Squiggle, I love An Affair To Remember - I even bought it on dvd.
Thanks for the heads up about Brief Encounter, El. Iâll be sure to record it
Donât worry Moonie, Iâm taking it easy on the treadmill and will build up slowly.
I hope you have all had a good day
