Good morning everyone

Very breezy and quite cold here. The sun is currently out but rain is set to arrive soon

Nothing planned for today as I shopped early evening yesterday. It was cold out then

I hope you have a good day

I hope you have a good day too I did my shopping this morning and it was noticeably colder than it has been.

Been on the phone to my brother. He mentioned that one afternoon last week his land phone rang a couple of times then stopped and rang again once shorlly afterwards. He saw that the number wasn't known to him so did nothing. Then during the evening he went to make a call and the phone line was dead. Tried with another handset he has and still dead. So it was the line rather than the equipment. Used his mobile to ring his landphone and just got an engaged tone. Used his mobile to ring the friend he had intended to call who said he'd tried ringing my brother 4 times, each time getting an engaged tone,

My brother still has internet connection, used that to contact the phone number, ran automatic test to confirm there was a ptoblem. No service faults reported on the phone site. So he left a message online with them to indicate there was a problem with the line rather than the equipment. Also rang them but automated reply as one would expect, but he was able to confirm that his internet report of a fault has acknowledged,

Tried phone again in the morning but still dead. Went out and tried when he got back in and the line had now been restored

We think that what happened was that one of those cold calling place (possibly a scam one) had rung him. They ring many numbers at the same time and it's just chance if it's you who answers the phone before anyone else. We think that the cold calling place had failed to be a proper disconnection, hence his line became engaged.

That’s shocking El

I keep getting a landline call from a certain number even though the number is blocked on my landline phone. My phone doesn’t ring. The only time I know I have had a call from a blocked number is when I look at the list of phone calls, which I usually delete everyday.

When someone calls my landline number and I have blocked that number, there is an automatic message saying words to the effect that the number has been block. It still doesn’t stop them trying to calling every few days, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day though.

I know it's shocking. Just as well he has a mobile. If that had happened to an elderly person with just a land phone, that would have been horrific for them

With blocked numbers on my phone, if they ring I get a single ring then it stops.

Rather cloudy though but still a bit of clear sky. Amongst the clouds I've just seen part of a rainbow.
And it hasn't been raining here at all so far today It didn't remain very long though but I definitely saw one.

Evening everyone

It was dry and chilly today.

Squiggle, have you been venturing out or staying close to home?

El, I love rainbows, even little ones that don’t last for long

What a palaver for your brother. Thank goodness he had other means of communication.

Moonie, I’m glad you didn’t need to go out in the rain

Summer, happy Saturday to you and Bramble too

Good morning everyone

Fairly sunny here and may stay dry all day - back to rain tomorrow,

Thanks Yogi re my brother

Expected an annutal tax guide book to arrive today. I've been getting that book every year for a long time as it's the best reference book to look at as first reference. Used to get it from the publishers but stopped that a couple of years ago and get it through Amazon. The reason is that the publishers kept on writing, emailing and ringing me to get more and more tax books from them and I got fed up with that.

Apparently, if it's a cleat night and you are away at 20 minutes after midnight, you'll be able to see Mars at it's biggest and brightest. Can still see it after 9 this evening in the south-east

I hope everyone has a good day
