I'm back

It hasn't been a good last 24 hours for me. Yesterday afternoon I lost 2 of my long term clients when they rang to say they were going elsewhere due to Covid 19. They live out in the countryside, have no internet access or mobile phones. I had asked them if they would be willing to make arrangements themselves to pay me but they weren't . It means that I can now justifiably claim the second self-employment support grant when that's available next month. I hadn't claimed the first grant as I couldn't really justify it at the time (applications for that closed 4 days ago so I missed that one).

Also, I had been getting weekly emails from my church every Friday. That didn't arrive yesterday and not today so far. So a sense of being cut off by my church.

And then I come on here and saw those replies which is why I posted that reply. But I'm not going away thanks to Baz, Yogi, Moonie and Velvet who have been posting to me

Keep the faith El. If anyone on here has it , it's you!

Sometimes you can imagine the universe is conspiring against you. Email the church and know that you count more than you realize

Was going to watch the women's tennis final over lunch on BBC red buttton channel (Freeview 601) as scheduled and as per ptogram guide. It's the closest thing we'll get this year to the Wimbledon final.

Instead BBC is showing the unscheduled cricket match taking place in South Africa between 3 South African teams rather than 2. First time this has been done.

BBC seem to regard a cricket match in South Africa as of higher importance than British women's tennis

As you say, it seems the BBC don’t have much time for British sport EL

I wholeheartedly agree El

A BBC report on content diversity and inclusion commissioning guidelines:
http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/com...ines-bbc-content.pdf
It covers all forms of diversity but on page 4 there's a table headed on screen portrayal. In that table it has a target of 50% by this year for women on screen. In the text  on the right of that page this does cover sport. This is for BBC produced content.

Evening all

Good to see all three lovely gents posting today

I’m really sorry you had a bad day yesterday, El, and hope you hear from your church soon.

Have you checked your junk mail in case the church email landed up in there? Sometimes emails which usually go in my In Box will find themselves in Junk, for no apparent reason.
Hope you are all well and staying safe

Evening Yogi

I had checked the spam folder this morning in case it had gone there but it wasn't. As you say, sometimes things go there for no obvious reason.

As it happens, the church email has finally arrived in the last few minutes ( a day later than normal )

Rocking Ros Rose

Good morning everyone it's cloudy and cooler this morning.

So sorry to hear you had such an upsetting day EL. As Moonie said you were only reporting a news story.  Devastating news about your long term clients. I'm sorry not to have replied sooner but I'm usually only on the forum once a day and I only just saw your post, it was a bit of a shock! I hope you have a better day today. Covid 19 has impacted lives in ways we wouldn't have believed if told to us six months ago.

Enjoy your day everyone

Watched "Oh... Rosalinda!" (1955) last night, a film I had recorded. It's the third of Michael Powell's and Emeric Pressburger's art trilogy. The first being "The Red Shoes" (1948) which is highly regarded. The second being "The Tales of Hoffmann" (1951) which is good but a lesser film than "The Red Shoes". "Oh...Rosalinda!" is not a good film, sort of a modernised version of Johann Strauss's "Die Fledermaus".  A number of well known actors in it. The main thing which spoiled it for me was Mel Ferrer. The character was intended to be a charming rogue but he came across to me as just unpleasant. Powell, in his autobiography, said that the film was a failure.

Someone needs to tell them restrictions are lifted and they can pee off back to the coast

Pick a Minister.

Oddly enough, the coast is only a couple of miles away from here as the river is tidal here and the land is not that much above sea level. The Tim Burton "Alice through the looking glass" was partially filmed at the docks with tall ships able to sail there from the sea
