Evening all. Mr Y and I spent the morning in the garden, mowing and strimming  the lawns, watering plants and generally tidying up. Too hot in the afternoon to stay in the garden.

Moonie, Iā€™m so glad you are feeling better

El, that pilot is an idiot!

Hi Yogi

Fankoo

You and Mr B have been busy

I have done a little gardening, a little washing and a lot of not much else

Moonie

Good morning everyone

Another sunny morning. Temperatures of 23 degrees expected.
I woke early and got up thinking it was 5.30am, only to find out when I went downstairs that it was only 4.30am. I lay on the sofa, watching an episode of Death In Paradise and, promptly fell asleep until 7am.

Iā€™m about to do some ironing before things really start to heat up.

Have a good day and stay safe, Buddies

Talking with my brother on the phone and he mentioned to me someone he used to work with until they were both made retired/redundant from their libraries. She is now working as personal secretary for the writer Ben Aaronovich. Apparently he writes fantasy novels set in London not that I've come across them. In the past he did various audio adventures relating to Blakes 7 and Doctor Who. He also wrote two of the Sylvester McCoy Doctor Who stories including Remembrance of the Daleks.

Good morning everyone

Another warm sunny day here.

Yogi, I think my brother is a deep sleeper

Moonie, there's a snooker tournament starting tomorrow in this country behind closed doors. It's being held at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes which has accomodation facilities there so everyone stays there throughout the tournament.

I hope everyone has a good day

I note that an antique British film "The Ghost Camera" (1933) is scheduled to be shown on Talking Pictures on Saturday at 6.40 in the morning.

IMDB trivia page says that this was Ida Lupino's film debut.

It was also a very early film of John Mills. Also of Felix Aylmer.

I recorded "The Ghost Camera" yesterday and watched it just to see what it was like. Allowing for its age, it was surprisingly watchable and had touches of humour. Some of the camerawork was unusual for its time. For instance there's a scene where Ida Lupino is talking with her brother John Mills) but the camera view is seen through her eyes rather than the two of them seen together. Opening credits are shown over a moving landscape rather than the normal static credits.

I didn't mention that the film was edited (one of his first films he had any involvement with) by none other than David Lean.

So worth watching if it gets shown again. Some of the acting by the lesser characters is laughably bad though.

el, thank you for the self employed update, thatā€™s great. Hereā€™s hoping we wonā€™t need an extension, but Iā€™m grateful for all the help weā€™ve all been given. This is so reassuring, who knows when we can actually go back. All we can do is get ready
