Son back at hospital on Monday, so we will know then when he can go back to work. Company phoned, and said he can come back when he is ready, so thats good  x

Yes he cant wait to get back to work, all his mates work so he is bored thru the day, and i have been taking over the computer so he cant get on. But i must keep up with the trial! x

My brother rang again last evening to say that another friend in his library didn't do well with his interview. Although his friend stays on the same grade his hours have been cut to 18 hours a week - effectively half pay. His friend isn't too happy about this but his wife did get the job she was looking for.

Good morning everyone, its really chilly here this morning, rainy and cold.  Mind you I did read in the papers yesterday that we might be heading for another ice age!!   You pays yer money yer takes yer choice, global warming or ice age  

 

My sympathies with your brother's friend EL, these are tough tough times. 

morning all, it's dark cold and wet here today, but I don't mind, I'm planning on staying in tonight so rain would be perfect Concert was a zoo last night, the band were good but the crowd were, let's say unpleasant, I had to wash my hair at 1am when I got home! Same squiggle, we've been busy a lot lately so I'm really looking forward to a night in with a glass of wine We've got the heat on at work, it is cold today!

I think I may be luckyish here as the weather is sunny, though there was a heavy shower an hour ago. And being sunny, it's not cold enough to need heating, though my heating did come on for and hour first thing this morning.

As Summer, Yogi and others have done, I've changed my avatar - it's a parrot flower from Thailand, so called because it looks a bit like a parrot in flight

I am sure it will Summer, knowing now how ill he was, it was nice he had this place to be himself, and his illness didnt matter here, because nobody knew. I imagine he felt he could escape it here for a time. I dont know, but i would like to think it was his little oasis, sort of thing .
A very generous spirit, that he could comfort others, but never once said about his own demons x

Night night Yogi and Skylark, Skylark I always think of my dad on Father's Day too, my hubby too come to that.  It is nearly 40 years since I lost my lovely dad, I wish I could give him a big hug for Father's Day, hope its not too painful for all those who have lost their dads.

I saw the film Vanity Fair with Reese Witherspoon last night. Some of the music by Mychael Danna was quite striking.

 

This clip doesn't come from the film but the music is a longer version of the song played over the opening credits. The words are from Byron and it is sung by Sissel.

Good morning everyone, a bright morning here.  Interesting clip EL, Vanity Fair was a thoroughly enjoyable book with a very memorable main character (I won't say heroine as anyone will understand who has read it).

squiggle, I agree, and none of the films based on Vanity Fair (some of them are called Becky Sharp) have ever done really justice to the book. For instance, the Reese Witherspoon version makes her a more likeable character.
