Good morning everyone it's a little brighter this morning. I hope everyone is coping in this strange world we're living in at the moment. If they had told us it would be like this a year ago we wouldn't have believed them!
Enjoy your day everyone
Good morning everyone
Fairly cloudy here but the weather does seem to be more settled - at long last.
Yogi, I'm glad you were able to have a nice birthday yesterday
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning everyone.
Bright and frosty up here.
Squiggle, I hope you will have support if you have to isolate
Thanks everyone, I did have a good day.
Have a good day, all.
Yogi, I'm fairly certain that Squiggle has been having her groceries delivered to her for some time
Thanks Yogi I have been self-isolating since the start of this as I am over 70 with several underlying health issues. I have my groceries delivered because I simply cannot get around the supermarket any more. There were a couple of missing items on my latest delivery and one or two substitutions but on the whole they were amazing and I received most of what I ordered. I have tried to order enough for 2 weeks so as to ease the burden next week on others. Sorry I didn't post in your birthday thread, I wasn't on the forum much yesterday and missed that it was your birthday. I'm glad you still managed to enjoy the day.
Isn't this a sweet picture of two toddlers 'visiting' their great grandparents?
Good morning everyone
Cold, breezy but here
I hope you are all well and have a good day

Iâm so glad you have things in place and are self isolating to stay safe.
Donât worry abut the birthday thread
Isnât that the most heartwarming picture. Iâm sure that visit from those little darlings really lifted the spirits of those grandparents.âĪïļ

El, your job just got a little more difficult with these new measures they have just announced

Do you not deal with self assessment as part of your profession?
If I am wrong i apologise

Yes, I do but I think I nust have missed something about how the new measures affect doing tax returns. I know that pubs and resturants have been told to close as from tonight but I don't have any as clients. I know that for employees who cannot work that the government will pay up to 80& of their pay (capped at ÂĢ2,500 per month) but that's not self assessment and the majority of my clients are self employed or private landlords.
I should have said that none of my clients (apart from one) have employees. There's no details yet as to how the 80% pay scheme will work.
As far as my client work is concerned I am of course affected in the logistics sense in that I can't see clients face to face for quite some time. Phone and email are fine. I do have access to a secure online portal for accountants to send and receive documents. I've had that for some time. That does require clients to have internet access of course. Documents can be posted or delivered though that would mean a delay betweem me getting some and me going through them to allow for any virus to die out.
Looks as if the virus can last 24 hours on cardboard and up to 2-3 days on plastic so a 3 day delay between receiving and touching should be OK.

More useful info, thanks again El
One announcement which does affect self assessment and the self-employed is that any self assessment tax which would become payable in July has been deferred to January next year. That's the second payment on account for 2019/20 which will be of interest to @~Sparkling Summer~

No cake, Summer.
We would have had cake if Iâd had a family get together but hubby would have been in a diabetic coma if Iâd had a birthday cake and only he and I were eating it ð

Good morning everyone it's a little cloudy this morning but the forecast for the week ahead seems OK. Is your church doing a live stream EL?
Enjoy your day everyone
Good morning everyone
Quiet bright weather here and forecast to be a sunny day.
Squiggle, my church doesn't have to facilities to be able to do live streaming. The C of E is providing online literature for people to use at home . The Archbishop of Canterbury will be using the Radio 4 Sunday Worship at 8.10 am to have a sort of live streaming service.
I hope everyone has a good day
Seems to be a slight change on the BBC site.
If you are trying to see the radio schedule guide clock on the Sounds menu. TV Guide is from the iplayer menu.
Good morning everyone.
Dry and chilly up here.
When I spoke to my mum last night, she said one of the carers in the sheltered housing complex came round to tell them they only have to ask if they need shopping or prescriptions etc collected for them. Until now, mum and dad havenât needed the carers for anything but itâs a relief to know theyâll help if need be.
Have a good day, all
