Good morning icy cold here and very windy, but a sunshine/blue sky so that’s cheering us all on. I’m fighting man flu, so I went to bed very early last night.

I hope you’re all warm & cosy

I love Tom & Jerry! The Fred Quimby ones are my favourites

Summer, I've now watched the 10th episode of OUAT. Very good one and the best overall to date of the 7th series. You would find it confusing though if you skipped episodes.

I'm reposting this for Summer as we were posting at the same time and as my post was on the previous post she probably didn't see it.

Summer, I hope you recover quickly from your bug

Re Tom and Jerry, although Fred Quimby produced them, the creative people were lead by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera (Hanna  & Barbera). I agree with you that they made the best Tom and Jerry cartoons. If I were to pick the best one that would be "The Cat Concerto".

Met Office has now issued a yellow warning for strong winds on Saturday from noon for the rest of the day. They've announced it as Storm Dennis. Similar areas as Storm Ciara though they say not as extreme.

A new type of tyrannosaurus has been discovered in Canada - it's about 80 million years old.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/sci...environment-51457790

It's called Thanatotheristes degrootorum and predates T-Rex. Thanatotheristes is Greek for Reaper of Death, degrootorum is because it was found by a farmer, John de Groot.

Evening all

More strong winds, snow, sleet, thunder and lightning.

Schools and nursery are on holiday for a few days so I had the tiddlers all day - they were very well behaved.

Hope you’ve all had a good day

Good morning everyone it's a cloudy and still windy morning. For us I don't think the winds are going to calm much before the next storm. My grandson and I were grocery shopping yesterday and although there was a very stiff breeze it was a beautiful sunny morning.

I'm glad the little ones were so well behaved Yogi. Poor Summer I hope you fight off the lurgy very quickly.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning everyone

Sunny and a frosty start here. Forecast to cloud over later and rain tonight.

Yogi, I'm glad the tiddlers were well behaved

Summer, I hope you are feeling better today

I hope everyone has a good day

On the BBC site, a collection of photos of various British landmarks from the air taken by Ordnance Survey surveyors:

The first photo doesn't have a description but includes the GCHQ building in Cheltenham, informally called "The Doughnut" for obvious reasons.

Hi everyone

We’ve had another couple of snow showers but it’s bright atm - still too cold to melt any snow though.

Summer, are you feeling better?
Squiggle, I bet you’r glad to have done your shopping before Storm Dennis appears

Love the pics, El, especially the Portland Bill one. I love lighthouses.

Youngest son and DiL visiting this evening.

Have a good day, all.

Good morning everyone it's a little cloudy so far but I can see a bit of blue so it might cheer up. How odd to be facing another weekend storm.  Let's hope it's not as bad as last time.

I watched the Secrets of the Museum programme. It was really interesting, thanks again EL. I would probably have missed it without your prompting.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning everyone

Wet start to the day here, forecast to be better for the rest of the day.

Yogi, I'm glad you had an extra visitor last evening

Squiggle, I'm glad that you enjoyed Secrets of the Museum

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning, it’s grey wet and cold here. Some areas have snow but none here at present. Are you all warm enough?

I tried to watch secrets of the museum but couldn’t stick, I thought it would be more Victoria & Albert things

~Sparkling Summer~

Summer, no snow in this part of the country. The main concern locally will be the amount of rain from Storm Dennis over the weekend, not necessarily straight away but when the water from the hills from Shropshire goes into the river and then comes here. Could be quite an impact on local flood plains by the river (I don't live on a flood plain).

Although the Victoria and Albert Museum is named after them, it had its origins in the Great Exhibition in 1851 which Albert was a key organiser. You'll remember that from the latest series of Victoria and the exhibition was international in scope. The museum originally covered science and applied art though the science sections later formed the basis of the Science Museum.

Afternoon all.

We had quite a bit of snow overnight but none today. The snow on the roads has melted and I was able to go shopping.

I hope Storm Dennis doesn’t cause problems for anyone over the weekend

Have a good day, all.

You may remember me posting last year about the discovery by the New Horizons spacecraft of an object looking rather like a snowman.

That discovery has lead scientists to overturn the prevailing theory as to how planets in the Solar System were created.

USA bowled out for 35 runs by Nepal in a one day cricket international. It equals the lowest ever score for an ODI match.

Nepal won easily. They were playing at Kathmandu.

One of the student accountants at the firm I used to work for had been to Nepal and really like the country. She called her cat Kathmandu
