I've been a fan of Cerys Matthews ever since she went solo. Although she does pop songs, she has always remained true to her Welsh roots and also sings traditional Welsh songs and hymns. Her album Tir (which means Land) is a collection of such songs. The highlight of that album for me is Ar Hyd Y Nos, which we better know as All Through the Night. It is truly beautiful, but there are no video clips of her performance.

This is a clip of another song on that album "Ei Di'r Deryn Du?" which means "Will you go, blackbird?".It's sung in a mix of English and Welsh.

Thanks for the clip, El - beautiful scenery. I really must go visit Wales one day.

Once many years ago we were doing an audit of a builder with contracts all over the place. We had to do some site visits as part of our audit work. One of the sites was at Caldicott (which is between Chepstow and Newport). The young accountant would be driving over the Severn Bridge into Wales, and I told him to take his passport with him to show the officials on the tolls on the bridge. It took a few minutes for him to realise I was teasing him.

Hi Summer and Ros if you pop in x

Been busy with the final preparations today. I may disappear at times during the next week, when the electrical stuff is being done. Like Arnie, I will be back.

Lovely, Summer. I am in need of a calming drink before bedtime, thank you.

Good morning everyone.    Well the rain is pouring down here this morning.  We really do need it.  Apparently it's been the driest spring in this area for over 100 years!!

Hope all goes well with the new kitchen Yogi.  Hope everyone has a good day whatever they are doing.

I'm pleased to say the infection seems to be going away.  Hopefully a couple of days will see an end to it; at least I hope so.  Love you all.

Joyron

Joyron, I'm glad that the infection is going away

I think you are now getting the rain I had yesterday - as you say your part of the world really needs it, particularly the farmers there. Where I live, although there has been below average rainfall, there has been more than yours - I think this year we've had about 40% compared to your 10%. And of course Scotland has been getting more than average - 122%.

Hi everyone. Weather is cloudy but quite mild atm.

It will be Friday before the kitchen is finished, so I'll be doing lots of deep breathing and chanting my mantra "It will all be worth it in the end" until then. Thanks for the good wishes Squiggle and Summer.

Joyron, good news that the antibiotic cream seems to be doing the trick.

El, you are certainly right that Scotland has had more than the average rainfall. We've all got webbed feet up here now!

Definitely! I might even attempt some baking in my lovely new oven.

Hi Sylark.

Almost trial time again, ladies.

Oooops, wrong thread.

I did a search on this person (not sure if male or female as I'm not following whatever thread you meant ) and I found that he/she has written a paper on what microbes do to our bodies after death, decomposition and all that). I could post a link to that paper but I really don't want to as some things are better left )

So what did you have for lunch then?

Nothing yet.

My post ^^^^^ should have been posted in the Casey Anthony trial thread.

I read that earlier and thought I must be cracking up or had missed the plot somewhere, thank you for putting my mind at rest

I'm ever so glad you didn't post the link, that definitely comes under the heading of 'things I wish to know nothing about'
