Good morning everyone

Cloudy but dry here, may get some sunshine later.

Ros, I remembered that you has sung the Requiem a few times but couldn't find that you had sung the Great Mass which was why I posted that performance

Going out this morning to a client meeting and have another client coming here mid-afternoon. Both meetings are routine straightforward ones.

I hope eevryone has a good day

If you've never seen the 1944 film Laura before, it's worth watching. It's on BBC 2 on Saturday at 13.30.

Opening credits:

Classic film noir - Dana Andrews is a police detective investigating the murder of Laura (shot before the film starts) - that's a picture of her seen during the credits.

Otto Preminger was not one of those directors whose films I liked, but Laura is the exception.

The other client should be arriving here soon though he's a bit haphazard when it comes to timing

Welcomes

Charge him for your “downtime” El

Only joking, of course

In 2 days time I will have known him for 53 years. That's when my parents bought their house and we moved in - he and his younger sister "helped" us move in as he lived just down the road (and still does).

Just cut the grass. Still rather misty and damp on the ground but it's forecast to be rainy later today, tomorrow, Friday and Saturday so I thought I'd better. Probably the last cut this year.

It was actually foggy here first thing El but we have had some sunshine. It’s not to bad actually. Rain forecast for 10pm this evening

Well done on getting your lawn/s cut

Washing been out for several hours now. More in the washer. Shopping done but off out again now I have had a quick lunch break

Re the current "Just Eat" advert - couple on sofa watching TV and there's bits of what might be extracts from TV programmes and films.

One of the extracts looks a bit like David Niven in a plane with other planes seen through the window - he's wearing a WW2 bomber jacket.

His image is what' seen att the front of this clip so you don't need to play it:

I had wondered if it had been taken from the 1946 film "A Matter of Life and Death".  Niven's first scene in that film is where he's is the badly damaged bomber talking on the radio to Kim Hunter.

I checked that out and it's not (no planes seen through the window, the microphone is very different, Niven is very definitely not laughing or singing) and his face is sooty from the flames from his burning plane). The section of that advert is clearly thinking of that scene though.

Ros, I can understand the slight similarities between "A Ceremony of Carols" and "The Armed Man" as both are influenced by older music and texts. If you ever saw any of those Sharpe (Sean Bean) television films, those do include some older military songs which have some similarity with "The Armed Man".

thank you EL
