Good morning everyone
Cloudy but dry here, may get some sunshine later.
Ros, I remembered that you has sung the Requiem a few times but couldn't find that you had sung the Great Mass which was why I posted that performance
Going out this morning to a client meeting and have another client coming here mid-afternoon. Both meetings are routine straightforward ones.
I hope eevryone has a good day
Good morning everyone
Cold but dry with the sun showing itâs face every so often
Washing on the line. More in the washer. Shopping done
I am well ahead of the game this morning
I hope you all have a good day
Well done Moonie

Back from first client meeting - straightforward as expected
If you've never seen the 1944 film Laura before, it's worth watching. It's on BBC 2 on Saturday at 13.30.
Opening credits:
Classic film noir - Dana Andrews is a police detective investigating the murder of Laura (shot before the film starts) - that's a picture of her seen during the credits.
Otto Preminger was not one of those directors whose films I liked, but Laura is the exception.

In 2 days time I will have known him for 53 years. That's when my parents bought their house and we moved in - he and his younger sister "helped" us move in as he lived just down the road (and still does).
There's a delightful clip on the BBC site but it may be too soon for Moonie to want to watch:

The world's loudest bird song so don't have the volume too high:

(I think there's a typo in the text seen during the clip )

thank you EL it was lovely we are doing Benjamin Britton at Christmas - 'A ceremony of Carols ' -its lovely but one song reminds me very much of the style of Kyle Jenkins in The Armed Man which I love

night EL Moons summer if you pop in yogi - missing you
Good morning everyone.
Itâs good to be back but Iâm feeling the cold.
I havenât read back yet so I hope all is well in Buddyland
Hubby and I will be going shopping today....cakes will be bought.
Catch up later.
Good morning everyone
On the foggy side here at present, fog expected to lift this morning.
Yogi, Moonie will be glad about your cakes
I hope everyone has a good day
Ros, I can understand the slight similarities between "A Ceremony of Carols" and "The Armed Man" as both are influenced by older music and texts. If you ever saw any of those Sharpe (Sean Bean) television films, those do include some older military songs which have some similarity with "The Armed Man".
Liverpool's Allerton Oak has been crowned England's tree of the year:

It's believed to pre-date the Norman Conquest.

Just cut the grass. Still rather misty and damp on the ground but it's forecast to be rainy later today, tomorrow, Friday and Saturday so I thought I'd better. Probably the last cut this year.

It was actually foggy here first thing El but we have had some sunshine. Itâs not to bad actually. Rain forecast for 10pm this evening
Well done on getting your lawn/s cut
Washing been out for several hours now. More in the washer. Shopping done but off out again now I have had a quick lunch break
Back later
Thanks Moonie and I hope your washing is dried before that rain comes
Re the current "Just Eat" advert - couple on sofa watching TV and there's bits of what might be extracts from TV programmes and films.
One of the extracts looks a bit like David Niven in a plane with other planes seen through the window - he's wearing a WW2 bomber jacket.
His image is what' seen att the front of this clip so you don't need to play it:
I had wondered if it had been taken from the 1946 film "A Matter of Life and Death". Niven's first scene in that film is where he's is the badly damaged bomber talking on the radio to Kim Hunter.
I checked that out and it's not (no planes seen through the window, the microphone is very different, Niven is very definitely not laughing or singing) and his face is sooty from the flames from his burning plane). The section of that advert is clearly thinking of that scene though.
Wouldn't be David Niven in "The First of the Few" (1942) where he's the commander of a Spitfire squadron as that film is in black and white.
