Re the Sleepers Awake music. I have vague memories of it being used as the theme music for a 1962 BBC serial called Katy. It was based on Susan Coolidge's book called "What Katy Did" which was an 1872 American children's book, sort of a "Little Women" though Katy is younger aged 12.

The serial was notable being very early roles for Susan Hampshire (Katy Carr) and Michelle Dotrice (Clover Carr).

Serial is long lost and BBC Genome and IMDB have no details as to the music used so no chance of being able to find out if I'm right about Sleepers Awake.

love organ music EL - its fantastic to sing with as well - enjoyed that love 'what katy did -' remember reading the book when I was young

Good morning everyone it's a little cloudy this morning. That rings a faint bell 'What Katy Did'. Can't remember a thing about it but I know I read it when I was younger.  Black Beauty too and I'm not a gambling person but I would put money on my being probably the only person on this forum who remembers Milly Molly Mandy!

Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning everyone

Cloudy and dry here, rain forecast by the evening.

thanks everyone re my car. No further news yet but I expected them to keep the car in overnight and try it out this morning when the engine has been in the cold.

Yogi, I'm glad you had a nice couple of days with the tiddlers

Squiggle, no, I never came across Milly Molly Mandy though I guess the stories were more likely to be read bu young girls rather than boys.

I hope everyone has a good day

On the BBC site a collection of photos of triangulation points around the country. Those are the concrete pillars scattered around the countryside which were used by the Ordnance Survey to aid them in map-making.

For each pillar, the smaller photo is of the concrete pillar and the wide larger photo underneath is a 360 degree panoramic view taken from the pillar.

Good morning everyone

Very grey clouds here, dry at present, some rain forecast for later.

Yogi, I'm glad your dental appointment wasn't too bad and that you don't need to go back until 6 months time

If I don't hear from the garage this morning I was intending to contact them later for an update. It's quite possible that they worked on the car yesterday but need to let the engine be cold before trying it out this morning to see if the problem is sorted out.

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning everyone

A rainy and cold morning.

Thanks El and Squiggle.  I will always be nervous going to the dentist but this new dentist is so gentle and reassuring that he has eradicated my absolute terror.

El, I hope the garage is in touch this morning.

Hubby and I are going over to visit my parents’ today.

Have a good day, all.

Thanks Yogi and I hope you have a nice time with your parents

The garage rang me to say it's sorted so I've been there to collect the car. They had identified that one of the oxygen sensors had failed. That's used to sense the level of oxygen in the exhaust and feeds back to the car ECU to control the fuel metering and timing. Iif it fails it causes problems. They test drove it this morning after having done the work yesterday and they didn't experience the chugging problem or engine warning light which they had test driving it yesterday morning. I think there are 2 of those sensors,

No problems driving back and I did a few miles and refilled with petrol on the way. I won't be able to know that the problem has been sorted until I start driving the car where the engine is cold.

Good morning everyone

Cloudy and dry here, band of rain crossing over later today.

Ros, I agree with you about those forestry sculptures, also ethereal

Squiggle, thanks re my car Although I had to pay for the parts they only charged a notional half-hour for their labour, clearly they wrote off quite a lot more off as they would have spent quite a lot more time

I hope everyone has a good day

This was mentioned on Radio 4 this morning. It's a 10 minute audio clip of a quiet Saturday afternoon at the gate into Marneys Field on Brookfield Farm in The Archers. There are no spoken words in it, just the sounds one might hear if you were in the countryside near a farm. Just shut your eyes, imagine you are there, and listen. You don't have to have ever heard an episode of The Archers.

A slightly frustrating afternoon for Cheltenham Town who were away to Oldham - Cheltenham had quite a few chances to score but only succeeded once - final result was a 1-1 draw with Cheltenham dropping 2 places to 5th as a result.  ~If Cheltenham had won, they would have been top. The match next Saturday against Newport has been postponed as 3 of the Newport players have been called up for the Wales international matches.
