Hurrrahhh!!!!! Phew- we did it! The last of the schools go back tomorrow we’ll now experience a rush of people who have been avoiding, or couldn’t get in because of, the back to school rush.. and then we can get right back to normal!

i hope you all had a good day is it autumnal where you are? I saw leaves falling from the trees today, and the air had a nip to it that made me wish I had my gloves on. It felt like knowing an old friend is coming to visit I love autumn.

~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Forecast to be quite a cloudy day here. 10C at present and a forecast high of 17C so on the cool side.

Besides Honor Blackman, there was another person from the 1960s & 70s who helped popularise martial arts in this country - Cato (Burt Kwouk) in the Pink Panther films

I hope everyone has a good day

I hadn't forgotten Bruce Lee but left him out as his style of fighting was 18 certificate brutality so not someone who would/should have been seen by youngsters

Smithralia in command against England in the test match. Steve Smith still batting having reached the 200 run mark. Before this match started he had already regained the position of number one batsman in the world this year.

Looking at career averages in test batting he is in second place of all time. It's highly unlikely that anyone will ever replace Don Bradman as the all time greatest  batsman but second place isn't bad.

J S Bach's piano prelude in C major (part of his "Well-Tempered Clavier") lasts just under 2 minutes 30 seconds of this clip:

Simple in structure, intended as a learning aid, and sublimely beautiful.

Later Charles Gounod used it as the basis of his Ave Maria:

sang a version of  this last concert EL - its gorgeous - love it
