night yogi velvet summer moons
Good morning everyone it's definitely a lot cooler lately especially at night. Yogi and Ros I hope you both had a great time.
Enjoy your day everyone
Hope all is well in Devon squiggs
I have a bank account in Newton Abbot believe it or not.
My accent didn't go down too well in Devon.
Good morning everyone
Sunny here at present though expected to cloud over, a bit like yesterday.
Ros, I'm glad you had a nice time at Beamish and Durham
When I hear the word "beamish" I tend to think of Lewis Carroll's "Jabberwocky" - "come to my arms, my beamish boy"
I hope everyone has a good day
Beamish is always PG Wodehouse for me.
Victor.
Have a good day El
Surely the best hug of the week
Lovely happy picture, Squiggle
Doing a Google search on that picture - it's a quokka. They are the size of a domestic cat, a marsupial (like kangaroos and wallabies), and found on small islands off Western Australia and other places there.

Summer, I think they go back to school today so your bedlam could be over

She's been going to the local ju-jitsu club for 10 years to learn self defence.
Honor Blackman published a book on self defence and judo back in 1966 thus popularising this.

Afternoon troops.
Hope all are Hunky Dory. That's with love. I know you all. Nuff said
All's well here Velvet
Hunky dory is one of those American expressions which we know what it means but the origins are not known. My copy of Brewers says that "hunky" is derived from a Dutch word "honk" meaning goal, base or home as in a game of tag & other games. The origin of "dory" is not known, it's nothing to do with the fish as that makes no sense.
However, I have found that the Dutch word "dor" can mean dry. So it could be that "hunky dory" derives from "honk" and "dor", ie "home and dry"
