BBC Four programme tonight "How to See a Black Hole" will be of interest to anyone interested in astronomy. A group of scientists have been combining radio telescopes and onservatories around the world into effectively a global telescope. Over a period of a week they have been collecting and collating data with the intention of providing a close up as to what is going on at a black hole. The results are due to be announced later today, The programme is about how this project was brought together and the work which has been going on over the last couple of years. Whether the programme will actually include today's results isn't clear - if it does, this could be quite something.

Phone call from "British Gas" saying there had been a technical problem this morning, that they were going to read out my customer number and wanted me to then give them more information.
I have had this type of scam phone call before and refused to answer. I've since informed British Gas so that they are aware of this and can follow it up.
A follow up to the above post. I think a scammer would tell you what is called a MPRN (meter point reference number) which is for gas and is shown on bills. That's not the same as the meter number itself, That would make them appear genuine but that MPRN can easily be found on an online database. That's not the case for MPAN (meter point administation number) which is for electricity. Although that's shown on bills that's not on an online database.
Scammers can't do anything just with the MPRN number by itself but they can use that to try to convince people they are who they say they are.

That sounds fascinating. I once watched a show that explored the discovery of dark matter. I wonder if black holeâs are connected to this, and if that previous research has contributed to this new discovery

I had a scam call like that once! I refused to confirm any of my personal details, telling them that they should be able to tell me them, if they are in fact a genuine caller. They said data protection prevents them from revealing that information, and reassured me that they were genuine. I told them that a scammer would say that, and that they had my permission to tell me my own private information.. and so round in circles we went. I had nothing better to do at the time, so I stayed on the line to see what would happen lol it took them 20 minutes to get fed up and hang up on me

I was doing voluntary charity work this morning, which lasted longer than originally planned, but I didnât mind. My eye test concluded that thereâs no change in my prescription and I crammed in a late lunch with my mum. Then I ran a few errands, and came home to take advantage of the dry weather by cutting the grass! Add a few more chores, a long hot bath, and a much needed meditation and here I am finally climbing into bed
