Good morning everyone

Cloudy and windy and rain is likely later, but nothing as bad as up North - hope it doesn't cause too much disruption for anyone

The radio is currently talking about the the visit here of the US president - to show his affinity with his Irish roots, they called him O'Bama (what Irish roots?)

Earlier on there was an item about super injunctions and Twitter (something to do with a footballer being named, whatever that's about). Anyway the interviewer started off by talking about the scene in Spartacus played by Charlton Heston where his followers announce that they are Spartacus. The interviewer was completey oblivious of her error until someone pointed it out.

Summer, are you allowed to take the portable massage chair on the bus?

El Loro

Good morning everyone, we seem to be having March winds now (we've already had Summer ).  Seriously I do hope it doesn't get too bad for those in the North and North of the Border.

There will be so many good wishes flooding the way of your son today Skylark, like a whole load of aunties worrying about him (and some uncles ) Do you find your arthritis worse when the rain is due Skylark, I do.

Try and have a good everyone no matter what the weather does.

Morning everyone Yes el, I do believe the massage chair is allowed on the bus, however with no electric point to plug into, that may be a problem. I think it's high time we upgraded the facilities on the bus.. It's very windy here today, the local radio is issuing warnings for later in the day, I'll keep you updated Good luck to master skylark today what a lovely start to the week *leaves trolley with porridge selections on*

Are you a sufferer too  Well strangely enough, i find the pain eases when it rains, not all the time but mostly

Skylark, good luck to your son on his first day, and I hope your arthritis settles down soon.

El, I thought everyone knew that Kirk Douglas played Spartacus, and Charleton Heston was Ben Hur.

Thanks and thanks to Summer too, will have to learn to multi quote....my next mission

Not anywhere near as much as some.  But sometimes I do notice it when rain is coming on.  I find glucosamine helps enormously with mine.

But its nothing compared to a dear friend of mine who was born with arthritis.  She developed osteomyelitis at 10 and had to have both hips replaced.  Her spine is collapsing despite numerous operations and even the morphine she is prescribed daily is having less effect but she battles bravely on.

I think that the humidity in the air could have something to do with arthritis - the more humid, the greater the pain. It can also be connected with air pressure, the lower the pressure the greater the pain. As my mother suffered badly, I am only too aware of the pain it causes.

Yogi, I agree, I thought everyone would have known that Spartacus was played by Kirk Douglas - I wouldn't be surprised if that radio clip gets played over and over again.

Yes thats true El x , plus i am a great advocate of drinking lots of water, as dehydration doesnt help with the pain either x

Skylark, multi quoting is fairly easy - use the blue cross which appears next to each posting to select. Then open the Post Reply box, and you should see the ones you've selected.

But you can only select posts from the page on which you then click Post Reply. You can't select posts from more than one page in the same Reply. (Well you can, but that involves some devious trickery )

The gusty winds are taking their toll on my greenhouse. A few panels have blown out and another one has smashed. My sons have put a lot of the plants into the garage for protection but we can't move the tomato plants because they are in growbags. I'm not sure that they will survive.

Skylark, take care when you are out walking the dog, the winds are very blustery.

Oh no! That's all you need, is the wind going to last long do you know, this could prove expensive.

The wind speed is to slow down overnight but remain windy for a few days. I can't replace the missing panels while it's windy and I doubt the tomato plants will survive the cold for very long.

Yogi it might sound silly but could you put an old bit of blanket around them for now, to give a bit of protection against frost?  I know it works with that floss stuff they sell in garden centres.

Thanks Squiggle, I might try that.

Eldest son has arrived and is going to see what he can do, as a temporary fix.

Any job will take a while to get used to, its bewildering most first days.  Calm him down and help him to see the big picture, I know you will

It's such a shame that one thoughtless, unhelpful person can put a dampner on what should have been a great day for Skylark's son.
