Summer, Erik affects the while country but there are yellow warnings for Friday and/or Saturday covering roughly any where north of Liverpool, Rochdale, Bradford, York and Scarborough.
It may turn out to be more like little by little rather than large by large. That's a reference to a Victorian novel for boys which was very popular at the time and is thought to be the reason why the name Eric became popular. I wouldn't bother reading it, another Victorian novel "Tom Brown's Schooldays" is more readable, better known, and has been made filmed and made into TV series over the years.
El Loro posted:Moonie, that's correct though it's Storm Erik rather than Eric, Affecting Northern Ireland and Scotland with the strongest winds though it's going to be very windy across the country.
Erik the Red was a famous Viking, Nowadays he sells stationery and holidays
Well done Erik for diversifying

Youâre welcome
Has a recorded phone call saying that my BT phone line and internet was going to be disconnected and telling me to press 1 to speak to an advisor who would sort it out.
Obviously a scam, I knew that anyway but I haven't had a BT phone line or internet in years

You may remember the BBC correspondent Chris Buckler throwing some water from a thermos and it turned instantly into ice in the recent extreme cold weather in the States:
Its 40 seconds from the start of this short video clip:
That's become a bit of a hit in Russia as seen in this handful of photos:

Good morning everyone
Not pleasant weather here, rainy and windy though could be worse.
Ros, I hope your shingles clear up quickly I'm not aware that I've ever had chicken pox though both my father and my brother caught it when they were adults rather than as children.
for Yogi
I hope everyone has a good day and take care if you have to go out into Storm Erik
Farmers eh? Could never eat that wee beauty. Never.
Hope all are well - Yogi pick up
It's a landscape in grey. No light.
Good morning everyone.
Itâs raining here and strong winds are forecast so, Iâm going to hunker down indoors.
Squiggle, I love the lamb pic.
Have a good day all, whatever you are doing.
Bergerac may be returning though wouldn't be John Nettles:

Good morning rainy and cold here, and itâs windy already. Itâs a body warmer & scarf kinda day!
Squiggle that hat pic made me smile, thank you
Summer, well done on your quiz I know the answers to 7 of your 12 questions but won't post my answers so that others can have a go. I like the way you've given little nods to some of us
Summer, re question 8, the celebities Pointless version had a question a few years ago to name some of the films that actress or Marlon Brando had been nominates for Oscars and I got a pointless answer for one of her films (where she won) and also a pointless answer for Brando (Viva Zapata! - he was nominated but didn't win.

Well done I wouldnât have automatically thought of her, but now I know it, iâll not be likely to forget it!
I particularly like the giraffe question, and the answer to question 12
Summer, when I saw that you were preparing a quiz I thought of this poser:
Which actress connects:
and:
That's a very tough poser though, but by a total coincidence, she's the same person as in your question 8 and the first picture is the first film for which she got an Oscar. You'll probably need to look up a list of her films as they aren't at all well known.

Good morning everyone
Fairish weather here at present, still breezy and more rain forecast for tonight,
Ros, I'm glad you are getting better day by day
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning everyone, just grey, damp and miserable here. I hope it's brighter where you are.
Enjoy your day everyone
Squiggle, I hope your weather brightens up today, apart from the breeze it's not too bad here, a mix of cloud and blue sky . Apart from tonight, it looks to be quite settled weather for the coming week

Interesting photos though the word "garden" for most of them is very misleading.

Some lovely pics but, as you say, the word âgardenâ is misleading for a lot of them.
Good evening ð I hope youâve all had a good start to the weekend after the storm subsided, we had blue skies and sunshine all day! Itâs still windy though
El, I wouldnât have guessed the answer to that photo quiz question, not in a million years!
Goodnight and sweet dreams, Summer and Ros
