Good morning cold but bright here, itβs a lovely day
oh crumbs El, I hope HMRC get their computer errors ironed out, itβs stressful enough for everyone when things are running smoothly

Last client tax return done and filed with HMRC so a week before the 31 January deadline. Will have to check on the HMRC site to see if that's gone through correctly. Of course still work to do to sort out HMRC errors. About 15% of the tax returns I've done have had errors in the tax shown by HMRC as a result of HMRC computer system errors. I am aware that my institute is keeping a note of what's going on. I think it quite possible that the treasury select committees and the government audit office will have things to say about this later this year.

Thanks Yogi
HMRC did this video today about 5 outlandish expenses people tried to claim in their tax return. Not surprisingly they rejected them.
HMRC also did this video on 5 weird excuses people gave for filing their returns late. Again HMRC rejected them.
The first excuse may be the most unusual reason ever given

At the first excuse.
Goodnight and sweet dreams, Ros

night yogi summer if you pop in
Good morning everyone
Cloudy and relatively mild here.
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning milder here, and a lovely blue sky again I hope you all slept well
El Iβm pleased your hard work is done and I hope youβll give yourself a treat now, and some time to put your feet up. You deserve it
Thanks Summer though there's the pension excess client where HMRC have made several errors which I will need to get sorted out - that is going to take quite some time - it's the worst mess I've come across.
Good morning all
It has rained overnight and washed away the snow. Iβm quite glad as it was very slippery underfoot

Aww El, thatβs terrible.
Have a a good day, everyone
Good morning everyone, still grey here but maybe not quite so cold. I wonder why on earth Inland Revenue have suddenly decided to create such a mess EL. If they are hoping to improve on how things were it doesn't sound as if they are being very successful.
Enjoy your day everyone
Thanks Yogi and Squiggle It may be down to HMRC systems errors, it may be down to someone trying to make adjustments but making things worse. Although it needs sorting out, it doesn't have to by the 31st so there's no time pressure. The confusion is partially because my client changed his mind, but he's entitled to, it's that HMRC don't seem to be able to respond correctly.

Back in February 2016 we posted here about Beth Tweddle having had to leave Channel 4's The Jump having been seriously injured and having to have surgery to her neck.
She's now in the process of suing the makers of The Jump:

wow that is awesome EL
Good morning everyone
Cloudy, relatively mild here and forecast to get rain today.
Ros, I thought you in particular would be interested in that Haptic baton
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning overcast but mild and pleasant here today
El, thank goodness you are calm and patient, youβre the right person to unravel that pensions hmrc mess
Good morning everyone, lots of clouds moving very swiftly across the sky this morning. That Haptic baton sounds like a wonderful invention EL.
Enjoy your day everyone
Summer, it's more of a case of waiting for a time where I can contact HMRC to speak with them at some length to try to sort it out rather than ringing them immediately and launching a blistering attack which wouldn't be helpful.
Good morning all
Weather is wet and windy.
El, that Haptic Baton sounds great.
I donβt blame Beth Tweddle for suing, as there were a lot of people injured when taking part in The Jump.
Have a good day, everyone

Poor Beth, I remember when that happened.
I was was supposed to be going away for the night but my friend has cancelled, which Iβm actually relieved about! Weβre going to a concert tomorrow night, so now we can just drive down in the afternoon and come straight back afterwards
