The Thames mermaid has saved a drowning cow:

Dugongs, thought to be the inspiration for mermen and mermaids, are also known as sea cows.

I've received most of the remaining info on the huge job so have been working on that. Just one query left for them to come back to me.

Good morning everyone.
Itâs raining up here.
Visiting my parents, then going grocery shopping.
Have a good day, all
Good morning everyone
Not raining here at present though there's rain forecast this morning. May get a dry few hours until the next lot of rain arrives tonight.
Apparently some 7,000 households are still watching black and white TV:

(they must also have a digital TV converter box though as those TVs wouldn't be able to show Freeview without one)
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning everyone, the autumn colours are just gorgeous at the moment, which lifts what is a very grey morning.
Enjoy your day everyone
Morning troops
We have light today which is a change and I slept which isn't a bad start. Famous last words.
Hope everyone's day runs smoothly and that all loved ones are well
On the last lap of the huge job marathon. The finishing line should be in sight when I see the directors tomorrow morning with my draft accounts etc.
One of the more unusual ideas for generating clean energy - using bionic mushrooms:

Lee Majors and Lindsay Wagner probably aren't involved

Velvet, we got some sunshine this afternoon but the rain is on now.

Thatâs very good news, El. Youâve worked really hard, you must be pleased.

Thanks Yogi . I've got it done a couple of weeks earlier than the last 3 years. The client has changed the accountants who actually do the final stages of the accounts and tax and who file them with HMRC and Companies House. So hopefully I'll get the spreadsheets those accountants will need by the end of tomorrow. I wanted it done earlier to give them more time before the 31 December filing deadlines. (although I could do that myself, the client needs the support of a larger firm of accountants).

Good morning everyone
A mix of cloud and blue sky here at present, forecast for this evening and night is for rain and very windy with gusts to around 50 mph.
The huge client meeting this morning then, hopefully, getting my spreadsheets to the other accountants. I use a cloud portal used by accountants for that. Turns out that they use the same portal so are used to how it works.
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning everyone, very grey skies this morning, there's a bit of a breeze but I'm not sure it will get as windy as down your way EL. That's a bit of luck that the larger accountants use the same cloud portal, makes the whole thing more straightforward. What would we have thought of us talking about cloud portals 10 years ago?
Enjoy your day everyone

It's a process of deduction as Sherlock said. If you're compos mentis you get there in the end.
Hope it goes well El, I know it will.
Take care all. The weather's cleared. Push EL's boat out and treat yourselves today, however you do it
Good morning everyone
Weather is cloudy and grey.
Hope the cloud portal stuff goes well, El.
Off out with MrY to start the tiddlersâ Christmas shopping.
Have a good day, all.
Thanks everyone
I'm back from the huge client meeting which went well and I've no adjustments to make to what I've done
The next step is to get the files on to that cloud portal and let the other accountants know that I've done so. I found out yesterday that the portal wouldn't accept the email address for the accountants so I'm using another email address of theirs. I think it's because they are already registered on the portal for their client with their ordinary email address which has caused this. Normally the portal is betwwen accountant and client rather than one accountant and another accountant.
Yogi, I hope your shopping expedition is successful
Glad it went well El.
I know nothing about clouds. Can they not be compromised. Or simply hacked?
Thanks Velvet
I think anything on the internet can be hacked and that must include cloud portals. However the one I use is specifically for accountants and the company who provides it is well established as a provider of software for accountants. They have made it clear that it's GDPR compliant. It's more secure that using emails and is less likely to be hacked than much better known cloud portals. I don't have a website, I have up to date a/v s/w, do scans every day, keep client files on an external drive rather than on the computer's internal drive, do regular backups of client files and do everything reasonable to prevent nasties getting through. So when I get an email from UPS saying that my parcel from the States is being held by them and to click on the link to confirm my address I don't as I know that that's fake and that it's an attempted ransomware attack.
And I've put the files on the cloud portal for the other accountant
and sent my invoice to the client
I reckon my client file is about 350 sheets of paper. That doesn't include all the client reports etc which if I printed those off would be another 1200 sheets of paper
