Good morning everyone
Wet and windy here with gusts 40-50 mph. Not as bad as south as south Wales though.
Squiggle, I too hope you don't get blown away
Another client meeting this morning which will be very straighforward. Normally I would walk there as it's a 10 minute walk away but the weather is such that I wouldn't want to arrive at the client drenching (the wind is such that an umbrella would not be much help).

Morning El.
Very sensible to take the car in this weather
The koalas are cute
Good morning everyone
Its very windy, cold and very wet
Still have to venture out at sometime today though
Love the koalas too. Very cute and cuddly
Have a great day and if like me you have to go out, take very good care
Back from that client. Not intending to go out again today - the weather is not at all pleasant.
Moonie, I hope you don't drowned or swept away when you go out
I wonder why Freeview are showing some film called Earth's Final Hours on two different channels today (at different times):

Maybe someone will watch it both times without realising

Could well be
By the way IMDB site doesn't think much of the film (it's a TV movie) giving it a rather low rating. It's not a film I have any intention of wasting my time watching it.

Iâve seen it advertised before. Looked at the write-up and decided itâs wasn't for me
Moonie, there are some films which are so bad it's surprising they ever got made. The worst film I have seen throughout (so excluding any I gave up) is a 1949 British comedy film called Helter Skelter. Young woman gets hiccups and tries various ways to stop them. That's the film. Quite a lot of fairly well people in the film, Trouble was that I just didn't find it funny and thought it made no sense and pointless. Here's a clip from it to give you some idea.
The men at the start and end of the clip are Jimmy Edwards and that is Harry Secombe before the Goon Show days.
20 years later along came Monty Python - there are some similarities.

I think there are people who liked that film, Humour is so personal that what strikes one person as funny, another person finds it unfunny.
If I were to nominate one film which is at times truly dreadful and at other times very watchable it would be Time Bandits. That does have some of the Monty Python people behind it and was directed by Terry Gilliam (really a stepping stone for him from moving from Monty Python to bigger films). I saw it at the cinema and parts of the film can only be appreciated on large screen rather than television. At times truly stupid and at times hugely ambitious. For me, the highlight was the King Agamemnon section. The King ws played by Sean Connery who was a delight. So a film with parts rating 0/10 and other parts 10/10. Overall I would give it 2/10 as I have reservations over a film which is close to blasphemous.

Good morning everyone
Cloudy but relatively dry here, still very windy.
I hope no-one here has been drowned or swept away by Callum
Client dropping on some papers at noonish, he is only available at weekends.
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning everyone, gale force winds here, the clouds are being blown along so fast. There are trees down quite near to us, blocking one of the roads into the village. I hope everyone is safe.
Enjoy your day everyone
Good morning Squiggle, I'm glad you haven't been swept away I'm not surprised that trees have come down. Someone at my huge client told me yesterday that he had been going down a lane near them and came across a tree which had blown across the road. He helped others to move it to the side of the road so that they could continue.
Apparently somebody in your area decided to torch a derelict car yesterday so the fire people had to come out to deal with that.
Good morning all
It isnât windy up here but itâs raining heavily. I would think there will be a lot of surface water on the roads.
Squiggle, I hope you arenât venturing out today
El, there are some proper numpties around. As if our emergency services donât have enough to deal with.
Have a good day, everyone
I see that Talking Pictures is showing a film called Gumshoe this evening. Despite the title, it's a British film in 1971 with Albert Finney as a nightclub comedian who wants to be a private eye inspired by the writing of Dashiell Hammett. It's part comedy, part crime drama.
I've never seen it but I remember reading about it in a film magazine. It said that for a director's first feature film, it was good and that the director was one to look out for in the future.
He became a lot better known in later years and has made films such as Dangerous Liaisons, The Queen and Florence Foster Jenkins recently on BBC. Stephen Frears of course.
The ÂĢ50 note isn't to be scrapped but will be replaced with a plastic version similar to the ÂĢ5 and ÂĢ10 notes (the ÂĢ20 note gets plasticised in 2020).

The only time I've used ÂĢ50 notes is when I bought my first PC from Evesham Micros. Computers were a lot more expensive in those days, my credit card limit wouldn't cover the cost, and if I paid by cheque, I would either have had to pay in advance or wait for the cheque to clear before being able to take it. Even though this was before money laundering rules came in, my bank still asked me why I was taking out such a large amount in cash.

Those were the days that businesses like Evesham Micros would build and sell computers direct to the public. I'd go to Evesham with the specifications I wanted, they'd make it and I'd go back to collect it. I would get top specifications with the result that the computer would last years without needing to be upgraded.
I bought my first Evesham Micros computer back in 1997 at a mere ÂĢ2,635. With inflation that would be around ÂĢ4,600 in today's money
Although that is far more than what most people would pay nowadays, one can pay considerably more than that for a modern ultrafast computer for gaming:

Good morning everyone
Raining here and not warm outside. Rain could hang around until tomorrow evening though not heavy. At least it's not as windy.
I watched that film I mentioned yesterday - Gumshoe. It's OK but nothing exceptional. Besides being Stephen Frears's first feature film, it was also the first film made where the music was composed by one Andrew Lloyd Webber (film adaptations of his musicals were later).
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning everyone, still wet here although they did say that Sunday would be a better day, although at least the wind has dropped, still a miserable morning though.
Enjoy your day everyone
Weather still miserable here. Weather forecast to be drier for a time but return tonight and continue right through to tomorrow evening though lighter.
