Evening all

It has been windy with heavy rain for most of the day.

We went to Costco for a few bits and pieces but stayed indoors for the rest of the day.

I hope you’ve all had a good day.

Hi Yogi

It’s just been very cold here though we did have some sunshine. Inside is definitely better

Evening Moonie

Indoors was definitely the best place today.

Hiya

It’s really cold hear tonight

We may reach 21 or 22 degrees here by midweek

That would be warm for October

and apparently your part of the country may get that too by the end of the week

I looked out all my gloves and scarves today - maybe I won’t need them

I wouldn’t put them away just yet

Good morning everyone

Very cloudy here, but expected to stay dry. Like Moonie, it may get to 21 C on Wednesday but only for 1 or 2 days.

Yogi, I hope the rain doesn't cause problems for you and that you had another full night's sleep

Summer, I hope you have a great holiday

The replica Moon I've mentioned before is currently in Peterborough Cathedral:

Breezy and overcast but forecast to stay dry

Sweet, safe journey and have an enjoyable break

Luke Jerram (who made it) has  more than one of them on tour. A link to his site where under the heading "Museum of the Moon" you can see a list of the planned exhibitions in case any of those are of interest. Even if none of them are convenient for you, I think it probable that there will be more exhibitions in the future.

With the main item of news today being that report on climate change, here's a link to  a United Nations committee report done a few years ago about livestock farming and how much each sector contributes in terms of emissions.
http://www.fao.org/docrep/018/i3437e/i3437e.pdf

The highest is beef cattle 41% of emissions, milk cattle 20%, pig 9%, buffalo meet & milk 8%, chicken meat & eggs 8%, small ruminants (sheep & goat) 6%, and the other 8% other poultry and non-edible products.

Microsoft has had to pause its October update for Windows 10 users as some people found that their documents had disappeared. If anyone had downloaded it but not yet installed it don't for the time being:

Good afternoon 👋 and sending you lots of love from partially sunny Ibiza, we’re relaxing with family

hope you're all having a good day

any news on filming of the downton abbey movie?!

~Sparkling Summer~

Summer, I'm glad you are relaxing there with family

Re Downton Abbey movie, according to the Wiki article the majority of the cast still in the series when it ended are in the film though Lily James won't be and Matthew Goode can only be in it briefly due to other filimg committments. New in the film include Imelda Staunton, Geraldine James and others. The director is now Michael Engler. Priincipal filing in London started in August and more filming at Bath and at Highclere Castle was under way late September. Film scheduled for release in the UK 13 September next year.

3 ex-NHS managers currently on trial accused of defrauding the NHS of £700,000 by awarding contracts to fake people in the names of members of U2 (their real names rather then their stage names).

One of those on trial has a rather unusual name which if he is found gulity would be rather appropriate.

A kiddlywink is an old name for a Cornish beer shop or beer house set up after the 1830 Beer Act. It's thought one of those was set up in Sheffield (not the well known one but a little hamlet in Cornwall).
Another word was tiddlywink - there's a hamlet in Wiltshire called Tiddlywink. It's though that the word might be rhyming slang for drink. Obviously, that's where the shorter word for drunk comes from.

There's no evidence that the game is connected - the game wasn't named until some years later.
