Opening track for The King of Comedy.

Which wasn't bad.

That's another film I've never seen. My father did start watching it on television years ago not having seen a Martin Scorsese film, saw that Jerry Lewis was in it so thought he'd try it thinking it was closer to a Dean Martin/Jerry Lewis comedy.  He soon realised it wasn't.

I doubt if there is any intended connection with the name of Robert de Niro's character (Rupert Pupkin) and some of Norman Wisdom's comedies where he's named Norman Pitkin.

Hi everyone.

Sunshine and heavy showers up here.

Son and DiL invited us to go with them to see PB start school. She looked so tiddly yet grown up in her school uniform. She went in happily and confidently.

Tuco, I love macaroni cheese.

My mum is a fan of Jerry Lewis comedies and Mr Y loves Norman Wisdom films.

Have a good day, everyone.

Yogi, I doubt your mum would like The King of Comedy which is a dark film about obession, Some of the Norman Wisdom films are quite funny though he did tend to get rather sentimental in some of them. I hope PB is enjoying her first day at school

I agree El, I don’t think it would be Mum’s kind of film.

Thank you, I’m sure PB is having a great time.

Amazon in a bit of trouble over Prime and the promise of one-day delivery.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-45183887

I've been doing the accounts for a client and came across a payment to Amazon which the client didn't know what it was for. As soon as I saw Amazon Prime on the credit card and the amount of ÂĢ79.00 I realised what it was - the annual Prime fee. So I rang the client to let her know and to warn her that this would get charged every year unless she cancelled it. She has now cancelled it as she doesn't use Amazon that much and it's pointless for her to continue. As it was paid back in December, she's not attempting to get a refund. I know EC was able to but had done that within a few days of paying.

Good job you spotted it, El, otherwise your client would have ended up being charged for another year.

And the year after that and so on until she realised what was going on.

Good morning everyone, I was going to post half an hour ago but I got sidetracked down those internet rabbit holes, still here I am.  A lovely fresh morning with lots of blue sky, sea looks a bit choppy though.  Tuco you would love to live here then, my neighbour is a tractor nut and is always zipping about in his, at the weekends he drives the old ones, I'm not sufficiently up on the names of them but they look pretty ancient.

Enjoy your day everyone

The 16th of August 1819 (199 years ago today) was one of the grimmest events in British history took place - the Peterloo massacre in Manchester. When I was a youngster I had a book on British history and that was the one thing I never forgot about from that book.

Mike Leigh's next film is about that. Fittingly it will be premiered in Manchester. I would expect it to be an exceptionally powerful film.
