Good morning everyone

Cloudier here, rather warm and humid, there may be some rain later but not much expected.

Summer, I'm glad your BBQ went well

I hope everyone has a good day

El Loro

Our church has two new members of the congregation. They keep to themselves as they are a bit nervous and don't really fit in with the rest of the congregation. They are rather chatty during the services and wander around the church.

A couple of sparrows have taken up residence
Psalm 84 verse 3:
"Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O Lord of hosts, my King, and my God."

Good morning all

It’s overcast but no rain for now.

El, I could think of a couple of Scots I’d like to put in a rocket, on a one-way trip

Aww, your church visitors sound very cute.

My dad is in hospital after falling downstairs and breaking his ankle. He is waiting to go to theatre to get a plate put in.

Have a good day, everyone

Yogi19

Yogi, falling down stairs is too easy to do It's important that your dad follows the doctors advice re resting and walking even if it's not convenient. And he's not going to be able to drive for 6 to 8 weeks. I hope the operation goes smoothly and his recovery goes well

Summer, nighty night then

El Loro

Evening all

Dad has had his op, a plate has been put in and he has a plaster cast on. He has broken a bone above his heel and torn tendons too. He’s going to be out of action for 6 weeks. They are going to let him home as soon as he is mobile with a zimmer - Dad thought that meant tomorrow but it’s looking more like Wednesday or Thursday at the earliest.

Good morning everyone

Sunny with some wispy clouds here.

Yogi, I'm glad your dad has had his operation and I hope his recovery goes smoothly

Welcome back Tuco

I hope everyone has a good day

Good morning everyone, my goodness Yogi I hope your Dad has got over the shock of that fall, I know it will have shaken him up.  Poor Baz too.  I'm glad your Dad is on the road to recovery and I know he will be glad when he is allowed home.

Enjoy your day everyone

How to make bread:
Make flour from wild barley and wheat
Pound the roots of plants such as sedges, clubrushes or bulrushes) into a pulp
Mix together with water to make a dough or batter
Then bake on hot stones around a fire.

That's the oldest recipe for making bread (found in Jordan) and is about 14,000 years old.

Looks like a flatbread and tastes rather like modern multi-grain bread.

BBC have put all episodes of Doctor Who (from Christoper Eccleston onwards) on iplayer for 4 months for people to watch for no cost.

If I were to select one episode it would be 'Blink'.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/...ho-series-3-10-blink

It's a standalone episode and the doctor and companion are hardly in it so no knowledge of them is needed. Intelligent, literate and satsifying script with Carey Mulligan as Sally Sparrow outstanding. And the weeping angels are scary and original. It's as if H G Wells and M R James got together to write it.

IMDB rate this as the 10th best television episode of any type of series.

El Loro

So Blink on IMDB gets a rating of 9.8. Other well known British TV series episodes such as the Goodbyeeeeee final episode of Blackadder Goes Forth (famous for turning from comedy to pathos) 9.4, Fawlty Towers - the Germans episode (don't mention the war) also 9.4, and the episode of The Two Ronnies with the four candles sketch 8.8. Highest rated episode of Inspector Morse 8.6, of Foyle's War 9.1 and of the Poirot series 8.7.

I'm not saying Blink is better than those but it's high quality.

Afternoon all

Dad is doing well thanks everyone, but he might be in a few more days. It depends how quickly they assess him as stable on his feet with the aid of a zimmer.

Family and friends are rallying round with visiting and checking up on my mum and brother.

Yogi19

That’s good news yogi, I’m pleased all is going well i hope they don’t keep him waiting too long for an assessment

el, that’s an interesting list I loved that episode of the two Ronnie’S

Summer, in our church there are two candles which go on the altar and are lit for services. Besides the altar on the left and on the right there's a free standing candle. The free standing candles are only lit at certain times of the year such as Easter,
So the people who light the candles before the service would normally light two but sometimes four.

No-one has ever put up fork handles in church in place of the candles but it's certainly gone through people's minds

Good morning sunny here, it’s set to be another scorcher. I know it’s hot but I must say that I’m loving this summer! It’s fantastic to actually have a proper summer

how are we all today?

Any news from the hospital?

I’m having a “pj day” today, it’s long over due. I’m going to do some yoga, meditation, paint my toe nails, face mask and deep condition my hair 😍

Just seen your post, Squiggle, we were posting at the same time.  Not expecting much, if any, rain here either. There's a 40% chance of a bit on Friday evening according to the Met Office.  There's a weather warning for thunderstorms Friday afternoon and evenng but that's over to the east and south east,

Summer, I hope you've recovered from your pogo mishap
