We miss you when you don't pop in, I must admit I'm a little anxious 'bout you, stay strong now, we really care
I echo what Squiggle has said
El Loro posted:As you say Squiggle we could do with some rain, There may be a bit here this afternoon and some tomorrow. I cut the grass Wednesday last week and there's been hardly any growth since then.
We cut the back lawn on Wednesday but the front had hardly grown at all so we have left it this time.
Ever since 1979 women in Iran have not been allowed inside sporting venues (though there's no law for this). A billboard in Tehran supporting Iran's World Cup team had been criticised on social media for only showing males. But that's now been changed to a few women in a row mainly of men. Though the authorities clamped down on a plan to enable women to watch the matches on a large screen in the main stadium in Iran.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44495197
That article also mentions that in April several women had disguised themselves as men and were able to watch their team play in that stadium.
Back in 2006 the Iranian film director Jafar Panahi made a film called Offside about some women who had dressed up as boys to try to watch the Iran team play Bahrain. It's quite a good film and very watchable (and unusual in that although it takes place during the match, as the women are caught and spend the time outside the stadium you can hear bit of the game but you don't see it as such so it has very little to do with football).
I have mentioned that director before. He was sent to prison by the authorities in 2010. Later he was released under house arrest and since then has been able to more around more freely but is not allowed to leave the country and not officially allowed to make or direct films or write screenplays. That hasn't stopped him making some very low budget films which are near documentaries which manage to get out of the country to be seen at some of the major film festivals such as Cannes.
Goodnight and sweet dreams, Ros and Velvet

gorgeous ELlove Faure and lovely version
It is gorgeous, Ros . It was used as the theme music for Listen with Mother on the radio for decades. In this episode it's at the end starting at about 13.30.
thank you EL -remember that so well
night yogi ad velvet summer if you pop in
Good morning everyone
Quite cloudy here, there was some rain over night and there may be a shower today.
Ros, when I was very young it was more likely that I would see Watch with Mother on the television rather than listen to Listen with Mother.
That was Picture Book on Mondays, Andy Pandy on Tuesdays, Flower Pot Men on Wednesdays, Rag, Tag and Bobtail on Thursdays, and The Woodentops on Fridays,
A brief local client meeting later this morning, just for her to sign off her tax return.
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning everyone, we have the slightest drizzle possible, just a sprinkling but very overcast. It's funny I have no memory at all of Picture Book, loved Andy Pandy, Flower Pot Men, just the faintest memory of Rag, Tag and Bobtail and I loved the Wooden Tops - my favourite was Spotty Dog.
Enjoy your day everyone
Good morning everyone
Weāve had heavy rain and itās cloudy and grey atm
Squiggle, The Woodentops was my favourite too, and my brother loved Andy Pandy
El, I hope the meeting is brief as expected and you can relax for the rest of the weekend
Have a good day, everyone
Very overcast now and I think quite likely to rain here.
Thanks Yogi, the meeting was brief and I've just filed her tax return with the HMRC
I think the Woodentops would be many people's favourite, particularly Spotty Dog, possible as it seemed more real than Andy Pandy, Flower Pot Men and Rag, Tag and Bobtail.
Picture Book is almost certainly the one people are most likely to have forgotten.
It ran from 1955 to 1965 and had the presenter making something for children to make themselves. This episode from 1963 shows the sort of thing it did.
Note that Sausage the dog was only in the 1963 series and not in the earlier series.
(the opening theme is the Badinerie from J S Bach's orchestral suite No 2 in B minor)
Good afternoon gang Iām pleased to be at the end of a busy day! I hope youāre all having a lovely start to the weekend
Good early evening Summer I hope you are a good evening recovering from your busy day
Evening all.
Iām glad the meeting was brief, El, and I hope you and Summer are now relaxing
That was a good programme, thanks the the company, Ros. Goodnight and sweet dreams.

I came across this by chance - Walt Disney's The Old Mill (1937). Made before the animated classics, it's a foretaste of what was to come. Not surprisingly it got an Oscar.
A must watch if you've never seen it.
A must watch again if you have.
Good morning Buddies
Dry here for now but rain promised later
Iām not planning on doing much today, surprise surprise
Partially dry washing on the line but the clouds are gathering
Have a great day everyone
Good morning everyone, cold and grey today, feels like we're back to winter again, quite a nasty cold wind as well which doesn't help.
Enjoy your day everyone

Hi Yogi
Happy āFathers Dayā visit
This may be of interest to Summer more than the others here. It's about horseflies out to bite you when you are out walking in the countryside. Apparently you are less likely to get bitten if you dress up as a zebra. It's thought that it may be the reason why they developed stripes.

Many years ago I was walking in a field and got attacked by a swarm of midges or something like that. My hands were badly bitten. It took a couple of weeks to recover during which time my parents used calamine lotion on my hands - helped a bit, but still very itchy.

I think we call them clegs, El, and I get a bad reaction to their bites. Maybe I should dress like a zebra

Did you know itās not illegal to āclockā a car
Itās only illegal if you āclockā it and sell it on without informing the buyer it has been āclockedā š®š®š®

That's been a known loophole in the law for years, the government may one day make it illegal to clock a vehicle. I can't see any legitimate reason for clocking, and it's not something that has ever crossed my mind to do.
There's me posting about horseflies, midges etc yesterday and then today, there's a news story about flies plaguing the place where England play some football match today:

The simple answer is of course for all concerned to wear zebra outfits
