Good afternoon after a few cool & misty days, we’ve now got a hot sunny & very humid day!

Stay safe over there in the south west, I hope the storms are gentle on you

yogi i hope something out & about makes you smile today and if you need a good cry later on, then so be it

~Sparkling Summer~

Thanks Summer It's become very humid here but no rain ot thunder yet - it's still expected though the weather sites keep changing the timings.

I've just dashed out to the local Post Office with all my GDPR envelopes to clients. I had already warned clients to expect these and that they would be verbose. As I'm required by my institute to get client's consent I've included a self addressed stamped envelope and an acceptance slip. I wonder what proportion will come back, and what proportion of people will actually read the 13 pages

And I wonder if anyone will comment on a phrase on the first page "inappropriate forum". That's my institute's wording, not mine. I know what they are getting at but people may think that it's some dodgy website It's referring to forum in a legal setting and in that context means a court of law or a legal tribunal. Some of the words used in the law are Latin in origin, such as forum, tribunal, "habeas corpus", coroner, and bigamy.

That's a good idea Yogi I am sure it will help a little.  The biggest comfort is that dear Keira is not suffering the bewilderment and confusion of why she doesn't feel like she normally does, you have spared her that.  The last act of love that you could give her. Say a little prayer today to the God who loves all of us that He may find a green meadow for Keira to run and play like she was a puppy again. God bless.

Enjoy your day everyone

That made me well up but, in a good way. Thank you for that, Squiggle.

I think the storm risk for your area is less than here. The latest Met Office forecast is for 3 lots of thundery weather for me, 2 to 4 this afternoon, 6 to 8 this evening and midnight to 2 am overnight.

El

Just had a look at the latest weather forecast and a thunderstorm is imminent as of 5pm

More tomorrow too

Hi Sweet

I hope you and Miss Bramble are staying cool 😊

Yogi, happy out and abouting 😉🤗

Take care everyone

Moonie

Apparently there are two types of water, ortho-water and para-water (nothing to do with radioactive heavy water). It's to do with which direction the hydrogen atoms are spinning. Anyway, scientists have now been able to split water into the two types:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/scie...environment-44305663

Generally there are about three ortho-water molecules to one para-water molecule no matter how hot it gets, but at seriously low temperatures (where the air turns to liquid (-194 C)) it's closer to one for one and at unbelievably cold termperatures (absolute zero is -273 C) it's just para-ice.

Okay, if they say so

Although it's been raining for some time here, there's only been a bit of thunder rumbling in the distance though the main risk of thunder seems now to be from 8 this evening through to 4 tomorrow morning.

Looking at weather maps the worst seems to be over the eastern side of the Cotswolds (closer to Oxfordshire) rather than here.

There are light winds which mean that the thunder is slow moving which doesn't help.

Good morning everyone

Thanks everyone It was a very wet evening here with some thunder but no power cuts. The local news site says quite a lot of roads had surface water leading to closures but the main ones have re-opened. Cheltenham railway station was closed because of flooding. I assume it's since re-opened. It's not the first time that station has been flooded, I assume it must be due to poor drainage.

Today is still humid, it's very cloudy, and hardly a breeze. There may be some rain this afternoon but not expected to be that much and following days should give a chance for any flooded areas to dry up.

I hope Squiggle and Moonie haven't had weather problems with thunderstorms

A very straightforward client meeting this afternoon.

I hope everyone has a good day

El Loro

Good morning everyone

Weather is dry and quite bright atm

El, I’m glad you didn’t have any power cuts but it does sound like you had a lot of rain

Have a good day, all

Yogi, thanks My local weather site indicates about 17 mm which is quite a lot but not massive, I think other places would have had more. That site shows that it had stopped by midnight so the early morning thunderstorms must have been else where.

The expression on the woman's face in the 1956 one called "Passing in the street"  - somehow I don't think she approved of the man

Moonie, I'm glad you didn't get visited by Zeus

Me too

But just had a look at the local weather forecast and there is a yellow weather warning for severe thunderstorms between 9am and 10pm today

Moonie

Good morning everyone, we didn't hear any thunder or see any lightning down here.  Moonie I hope you don't get too many storms today. What fascinating photographs EL.  I hated to see the elephants chained like that.  You are quite right about the woman's face in Passing in the Street, and wasn't it fascinating in the Trip to the Seaside to see everyone looking down, just the way everyone looks down now at their phones but they are all looking down at something else!

Enjoy your day everyone

but that's a slight risk of problems and you mightn't get any storms. The warning covers virtually everywhere to the north of Worcester though the east coast of England escapes.

I hope you and the others here escape the wrath of Thor (he's taken over from Zeus for the day )

El Loro

Squiggle, I agree with you about those elephants. How attitudes have changed over the years, what was regarded as acceptable then would cause outrage if done now, and that's good.

My parents would take us to Bristol Zoo each year when we were children. But there was the time when we went and I saw this polar bear just walking to and fro never stopping. It disturbed my conscience and we stopped going.

El Loro

Back from that straightforward client meeting. It's the client whose partner is the woman I've known for over 40 years when she and her parents oved next door to where we used to live so the meeting is more of a chat rather than a business meeting.

*night owl swoooooooons!* funny you should mention Thor, I’ve just watched Thor Ragnarok 😍 I loved it.  I need to watch Dr. Strange next

No rain here, I cut the grass, and dried washing on the line. It’s very humid tonight.

Wishing you all very sweet (and thunderless) dreans

~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Pleasant weather here today and seems to be quite good for some time to come. I hope there are no thunder problems for people up north if Jupiter pays you a visit (Zeus and Thor have taken a short break to recover )

Summer, I haven't seen any Thor film other than where he's been one of the characters (The Avengers). There's a lot of that type of film, 19 so far in what is called Marvel Cinematic Universe films:

Good morning Buddies

Strange start to the day here. Cloudy and breezy but dry so far

Only a 10% chance of rain until 6pm according to the weather forecast. We shall see

Have a great day everyone

Tolkien's fan in the clip doesn't mention that he was a professor of Old English/ Ango-Saxon, was fascinated and learned in old Norse and Finnish mythology which is why his invented languages of Elvish and Dwarvish were influenced by those.
