By chance I came across this piece of choral work by someone I hadn't heard of - Peteris Vasks. It's called Dona Nobis Pacem. It's a truly great work, up there with the likes Of Arvo Part and John Tavener.

@Rocking Ros Rose you in particular may appreciate this.

Thank you EL-its excellent -we are performing Rossini's Petite Messi solonelle at the end of June -love anything choral

Rocking Ros Rose

Good morning everyone

Very cloudy here but dry. Although there was some rain and thunder here yesterday, it was nowhere near as bad as other places. It may rain here today but the weather warning no longer applies in my area.

Ros, I'm glad you appreciated that music. I know you are really looking forward to performing Rossini's Petite Messi and I'm sure it will go well

I hope everyone has a good Bank Holiday

Moonie, I thought you might have had a lot of thunderstorms yesterday, it had been forecast to be like that for my area but that didn't happen. I hope you don't have to do anywhere which has been flooded

Apparently "veg out" was first used in the film "Pretty Woman" where Julia Roberts says "Let's watch old movies al night... we'll just veg out in front of the TV"

I had a “stay in” day yesterday

Good morning everyone, it's been a little difficult to post this morning with two little ones running around talking 13 to the dozen but I've managed to pop in for a second.  It's a beautiful morning.

Enjoy your day everyone

Sounds like a fun filled day squiggle

Good luck and I hope are not to worn out at the end of the day

Moonie

I've been having a really exciting bank holiday Monday.

I've spent most of the day working on my revised terms of business for clients and the privacy notice. It's down to GDPR which I'm required to comply with. Luckily my accountancy institute provided templates for this otherwise what has taken me a day would have taken a lot longer.

It works out at 13 pages of very boring text. (although GDPR came in on Friday, we weren't required to have everything done by then, just underway).

If you want to see the sort of thing meant by a privacy notice you can see a link to the Social Strata one right at the very end of any page on the forum.

Love that film so maybe that’s where I got it from

Good morning Buddies

it’s actually dry here, for now

We had virtually a complete day of thunderstorms yesterday

Hi Yogi

‘veg out’ is a new one on me

Enjoy your vegging

Hi El, Squiggle, Velvy and Sweet should you drop in

Not sure where I got the phrase from.

Nor me until El said but seems appropriate Yogi

Moonie

Thanks Moonie

I still have to print them off, send them to every client, with a covering letter, a consent slip for them to sign and return to me, and I'll have to enclose a stamped envelope for them to send that consent slip back to me. That's what my Institiute has said though it's going to take time and isn't cheap.

Aww, I hope you had something nice, like a cake, to cheer you up after all that paperwork.

*night owls* I’m unusually wide awake in the middle of night and I wanted to pop in to do a thunderstorm check on our s/w friends in here. I’m pleased you’re all alright, especially after the spook of it!

The spa day was lovely thank you, I really enjoyed seeing my cousins. We also had an impromptu invite afterwards to visit an uncle that I have not seen for 20 years! It was really nice

Yogi I hope you have great fun minding

El, that’s a lot of paperwork I wish you luck with it

who supplies your energy? I need to do an updated comparison and negotiate a good deal

squiggle, how are the little ones these days? they sound full of beans

Moonie I hope all is well and the sun is back out with his hat on for you

velvet, keep shining your ray of sunshine on us

sweet dreams all

~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone

Another very cloudy day here and may get some rain.

Summer, British Gas - it's on a fixed rate tariff rather than the variable one. The increase is entirely due to higher gas consumption rather than price increase. If you are going to do a comparison make sure you don't get tied in to a contract where the tariff is cheap at the start then shoots up.

I'm glad you had a nice day at the spa and had a surprise visit to your uncle

Yogi and Summer, thanks It's a big job. Although I've done the terms of business and the privacy notice, the prinitng and getting it ready for posting will take time and, of course, there's the cost of the paper, ink and postage. I think a lot of accountants will do it a different way via email and/or their website. Quite a lot of my clients are not computer minded and I don't have a website. So it's simpler for me just to use the post.

I hyope everyone has a good day

El Loro

Good morning everyone, a little cloudy at the moment but it looks as if it could brighten later.  That's a big ask EL, the cost in paper ink and postage is a considerable one and one that I should think is impossible to recoup. The little ones are, as you would expect Summer, a complete joy and also a little exhausting.  They are like Duracell bunnies always on the go.

Enjoy your day everyone

Good morning Buddies

Its overcast here. Could be more of the wet stuff on the way

But at least only a 10% of rain today

Yogi, happy minding, I hope

Sweet, sounds like you had fun time

El, I hope your day is a little less hectic

to Velvy and squiggle should they pop in

Have a great day one and all

It's the nesting season. How are your swans?

Sadly, we lost the male to an anglers hook in the foot

Then one of last years cygnets had a hook in its beak and itsback was bleeding

I rang the RSPCA who came and collected it. I have since heard from them that it had the hook removed and the injury treated. It was still with them but when fully recovered it would be relaeased into a wildlife sanctuary

The female is still on their nest but I am thinking we will have no cygnets this year

Moonie

Sad news Moonie about the swans

Squiggle, as you say it's a cost I can't recover from clients. GDPR compliance isn't costing me the type of money being mentioned in the news though, it's just one of those things I have to accept.

I've been working on a covering letter and an acceptance slip to go with the terms of business and privacy notice to clients. Using Word mail merge and conditional mergefields with this which is a doddle for those used to doing this, but takes longer to work out when you're not. And I'm not

Velvet, I hope you are having a good day

I‘m not really feeling much better but have a doctors appointment for 4pm so will see what happens after that
