Hi Moonie.
Definitely better than the beast from the east
Hi Yogi
I hope we donβt have another βbeastβ in my lifetime

Hi Moonie.
Definitely better than the beast from the east
Hi Yogi
I hope we donβt have another βbeastβ in my lifetime
I hope we do have another 'beast' some time. The term has been used before and it's probable that any cold weather coming from the east will be called "Beast from the East" yet again

Goodnight and sweet dreams, everyone
Hugs for any night owls
night yogisummer if you pop in
Good morning a scorching few days here too, and today is shaping up to be the same βοΈπ
yesterday I took part in an all day walking challenge! It was brilliant, the weather was great because it started out sunny and the clouds covered us during the middle of the day
i opted to leave Bramble with a friend because i felt it was too hot for her, she hates the heat
Did someone mention cake?
I agree, a heatwave is definitely better than a beast keep cool everyone
Good morning everyone
Misty here at present, forecast to become sunny but not as warm as yesterday.
Summer. Im glad you had a good walk Sensible to leave Bramble with a friend as she could easily have become dehydrated given the heat.
I hope everyone has a good day
Although I didn't record it, a film called Message from Mars was recently shown on Talking Pictures. It was a British film made in 1913 so must be one of the first feature films made in this country. I noticed that one of the lead actors was Charles Hawtrey. I checked and found that the Charles Hawtrey of the Carry On films was not related to him but decided to "borrow" his name for use in acting.
Good morning everyone, much greyer and colder this morning but I'm not going to complain as it was a perfectly beautiful weekend. Sounds like you had a good weekend Summer, I hope everyone else did too.
Enjoy your day everyone
Squiggle, the mist has gone here but it's cooler than yesterday. I cut the grass this morning whilst it's relatively cool and also because some rain is being forecast either later today or tomorrow.
Iβm glad your mist is clearing, I hope you get some sunshine. Itβs scorching here, Iβm waiting for a better time to cut my grass.
Iβve just watched the last in the series of The Durrells and cried my eyes out! It was joyful, a little sad, and just lovely. Iβm going to miss it I do hope they make a 4th series
Summer, I watched the penultimate episode of The Durrells yesterday but haven't watched the last one yet. I hope they do make another series though the ratings seem to be down from the previous year. Unless they decide to change history I would think it unlikely that more than 6 series would be made. Having said that, in real life Lawrence had moved to Corfu with his first wife before the rest of the family arrived, so the producers have changed history before.
Ratings are down?! howβs that possible! I hope they count those of us who record it. I did read somewhere that the tv show has diverted from fact to fiction, so I think I may go ahead and google them now to see how their lives turned out.
I did think they perhaps returned to England when the war broke out..
I had a good day with the tiddlers
Popping in to say goodnight and sweet dreams, everyone
Sweetdreams yogi
Good morning everyone
Fair weather here but temperatures back down to average levels for May.
Yogi, I'm glad you had a good day with the tiddlers
Return visit to the client I went to see this time last week with her completed tax return so should be straightfoward.
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning all
Weather is dry, with rain forecast for later.
El, I hope the meeting goes well.
Have a good day, everyone.
Good morning everyone, coldish and grey again but dry so far. I do recommend the Corfu Trilogy by Gerald Durrell, a really good read. I think the casting for the series has been brilliant too.
Enjoy your day everyone
Back from the client meeting which was straightforward.
I can't recommend the Alexandria Quartet by Lawrence Durrell. Never read any of the books but I think they might make you
As Squiggle says, The Durrells have been well cast
Good afternoon a pleasant morning here but now cloudy and cooler, I made the mistake of dressing for summer and no Iβm cold! Oops
haha! Good to know El, iβll Stick to Geraldβs Corfu trilogy instead
Summer, I think we had become used to a few days warm weather so it's become a bit of a shock as the temperature is back down to typical levels.
I think you would find the Corfu trilogy a lot more easy and enjoyable to read compared to the Alexandria quarter - that does have its admirers but it's highly intellectual and demanding by what I've heard.
Goodnight and sweet dreams, everyone
Hugs for any night owls
*night owls* π¦π
sweet dreams yogi I hope youβve had a lovely day
I found a lovely link about the Durrells, but canβt seem to post it here. I was right when guessing that they left Corfu due to the Second World War. I was surprised to read that not all of them left at the same time though.
night yogi and summer
Good morning everyone
Sunny here though temperatures at normal levels rather than in the 20s.
Link to a Radio Times article about the real history of the Durrells though could be seen as potentially a spoiler for the series.
http://www.radiotimes.com/news...l-history-itv-drama/
I don't think the maid mentioned right at the end of the article is the person we see in the series
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning everyone.
The sun was shining when I woke at 6.30am. According to the forecast, weβll get some sunshine with light showers.
El, I wonβt click on the link as I still havenβt watched the recent series of The Durrells.
Have a good day, all.
Yogi, in that case I'll mention the last part of that Durrells article as it's clearly not a spoiler. In real life Leslie in later years had a son with the family maid from Corfu. Not the same person we see in the series.
Good morning everyone, a beautiful morning here but like you EL it's not quite as warm as we would like. That definitely wouldn't be Lucrezia then! Although again the actress who plays her is well cast and plays the part well. In fact I don't think I could name anyone who isn't totally believable in their role. Yogi you have a treat in store.
Enjoy your day everyone
Good afternoon cooler but sunny here today, itβs very pleasant
El, thank you for posting that link I found it fascinating! Series 1 of the Durrells has just popped up on Netflix so iβm going to watch it all again
Have you seen todayβs news story about the rubber ducked shaped asteroid, that nasa are tracking?

No I hadn't. It's this story:

Oddly enough the BBC posted this yesterday:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/scie...environment-44054344
but' that's a different asteroid.
Good afternoon Buddies
We have cold, wind, sunshine but dry here. Thatβs a good mixture
I have just had to put a jumper on
I hope you are all having a good day

I'm not expecting that to be in the Muppet Show
Afternoon all
Weβve had sunshine and showers, as was forecast, and itβs pretty chilly.
Iβve done my grocery shopping, housework, ironing, planted some herbs in my little herb garden and visited my parents.
I hope you are all having a good day.

Recently when I was in Cheltenham I heard a busker playing the famous Titanic song on what I think was probably a bass clarinet. So I thought I would see if I could find a Youtube clip to check if that would have been the instrument used. Anyway I came across this.
It's not the most orthodox version but it might just possibly amuse you.
