There was a minor thunderstorm here yesterday evening but I didn't notice much. Sunny here at present, there may be a bit of rain late morning, temperature is down fron what it has been.

As I mentioned above I didn't notice much with the thunderstorm. I had drawn the curtains so didn't see that during the storm the sky had turned purple. Here are a couple of photos on the local news website to show what I mean.

I remembered an old western series I saw many many years ago. This was the very first episode from 1957:

This is another series I remember vaguely, also from 1957:

The chances are that these were shown in this country after 1957, that's when they were shown in the States.

The organist at church quite often plays music before or after the service which relates to some well known person in films or television who has died.
This morning someone asked me if I knew who had died as the organist was playing music from Chariots of Fire. I said that I wasn't aware of anyone, the only person who had been in the news was Verne Troyer. He said who was that so I told him. He agreed that Mini-Me was unlikely to have featured in Chariots of Fire

(the organist might have been playing that because of the London Marathon taking place though that's a very different distance to the races in the film).

I see that today's Google Doodle is for St George's Day:

To the right of George is a lion, a heraldric sign of bravery. Robin Hood makes a guest appearance as well.
Then on the left there's Titania and Nick Bottom transformed into a donkey as it's also Shakespeare's assumed birthday.
Google don't mention this but I think the skull shown is that of poor Yorick.

Morning Velvet, the world would be much poorer without a donkey

England seems to pay much less attention to its patron saint's day than Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland. There's the legend of George and the dragon and that's about it.

Good morning everyone, a bit overcast this morning and breezy.  St George's Day still means a lot to many English people, it certainly does to me.  A smile to brighten our day. 

I hope Velvet that you know that every donkey carries a cross on its back to remind us that they carried Our Lord, yes even baby donkeys

Squiggle, I wish I could say that the weather is better here but that's not the case.

I bought a box of M&S lemon curd bakes at the weekend and had one yesterday. The box describes them as "delicious all butter pastry, filled with zesty lemon curd, topped with sponge and lemon icing drizzle".

There was next to nothing in the way of lemon curd and minimal amount of lemon drizzle.
I won't be getting any more of them

El, I loved the video of the new prince I hope Kate was then able to go home, take her make up off and put her pj’s on! 

I’m hoping they name him Henry  

Summer, they all went back home to Kensington Palace when they left the hospital. No name yet announced.

Some history was made yesterday with the birth. It's the first time that a girl (Princess Charlotte) was not displaced in the line of succession to the throne by the birth of a younger boy.  The law on succession was changed a few years ago.
