Rained overnight here, very gloomy now.

Some time ago I posted about the man who was building his own rocket to see for himself if the Earth was round or flat.
He's done it though hurt his back in the descent. He hasn't said anything yet but as his rocket didn't get high enough to see that the Earth is round, it's not going to be decisive.

A sadder news story. David Cobham has died, he was 87. He was a conservation film pioneer and also a founder member of the Hawk and Owl Trust. He directed the films Tarka the Otter and Woof!. He was married to Liza Goddard, best known for Skippy and sometimes in Bergerac (she's quite a lot younger - 68)

Only one tiddlers today as poor BB has caught Chickenpox. PB had it a couple of weeks ago, so it was only a matter of time before BB got it.
PB was on good form and we got to do lots of crafting, painting and playing board games.

Good morning everyone, we've had quite a bit of rain and the forecast is for it to be wet but at the moment it's not raining. It's quite amazing how everything is suddenly greening up though. Poor BB not only chickenpox but missing out on a visit to his Gran as well, I hope he is soon back to his old self.

I've mentioned Michael Powell's 1944 film A Canterbury Tale before.

It may not be regarded as one of his best films but it's my favourite. I've seen it many times. Although superficially it's an odd film about 3 people thrown together by chance investigating who is the person responsible for pouring glue over women's hair. It's far more than that and is one of those rare films which each time one sees it you get something new. It's such a multi-layered film. Although it's set during WW2 and has military people in it, it's not a war film as such.
One aspect of it is that there's a sense in that England is changing and things will never be the same. But then England has always been changing. The film starts off in Chaucer's time before moving to August 1943 (Powell uses the same technique for this as Kubrick did years later in 2001). Life in England in Chaucer's Time would have been very different to what life was like in August 1943.

My local news site keeps on posting news articles as to when and how much snow will fall here. They had been talking about snow over Easter, then that went to be replaced with rain, but today it's back to snow. Looking at the weather forecasts it seems more likely to be sleet at times rather than snow. Of course at higher levels could be snow.
Tip for the day. If a cheetah gets into the back of your car and you are in the front, it's best to keep still, don't turn to look at it, and wait for it to leave.
