night yogi summer velvet
Good morning everyone
Sunny and relatively mild here, the snow has gone, hefty showers forecast for later.
Apparently some parts of the southern half of the country are having water problems with low pressure caused by things such as burst water pipes. The water seems OK here.
I hope the snow starts thawing over the next couple of days for those in the north
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning ð warmer here, with a nice thaw starting to take place
i hope youâre all warm & ready for a new week, weâre hoping for a busier one because trade was really poor last week ððŧ
Summer, I would think it probable that you'll be a lot businer than last week as travellling becomes easier with the thaw
Rather unusual sight- starlings causing a bit of a roadblock in Norfolk:

Good morning everyone
We still have a lot of snow on the ground but it is starting to thaw.
There was fog when I woke at 7am and I think the dampness in the air is helping the thaw.
Summer, Iâm sure youâll be much busier this week with people who postponed their haircuts due to the bad weather.
lol El, weâve had some tailbacks in the village when the swans decide to take their cygnets for a walk but never a starling roadblock
Have a good day, everyone.
Good morning everyone, it seems much milder here and I think I see the first hint of green on the trees on the opposite hill. Perhaps March will be like the traditional saying coming in like a lion and going out like a lamb.
Like others I'm pretty sure you will be rushed off your feet with people who couldn't get out last week Summer.
Enjoy your day everyone
Apparently there's black ice on the A417 near the Air Balloon. Although the snow and ice at low levels here had gone by yesterday, there's still a serious risk at that level (some 900 feet above sea level)
Saw a car just passing the house. I could see that the driver was holding the steering wheel with left hand as was talking to someone on mobile phone in right hand. Went on to the right hand side of the road to ovetake a parked car. As the driver did so I head someone shouting at the driver - a cyclist with safety helmet and reflective yellow jacket going the other way. Luckily the cyclist was not harmed. The car just carried on.
For those who watched Waking the Dead over the years, you will certainly want to listen to the Radio 4 Drama afternoon slot this week. 5 part serial called The Unforgiven written by Barbara Machin.
Grace Foley - Sue Johnston
Frankie Wharton - Holly Aird
Mel Siver - Claire Goose
Spencer Jordan - Wil Johnson
Fans will recognise those names. It's a prequel set in 1984 about how the team were brought together.
Although Peter Boyd is in this serial he's not played by Trevor Eve, presumably not available. He's played by Anthony Howell - you'll remember him from Foyle's War where he was Sgt. Paul Milner.
Link to the first episode:

Later episodes will show up as links there
Episodes from the Drama slot are typically available for about a month from when transmitted.

Thanks El. I loved Waking The Dead

That'll be the day Ras
Have you been out to the shops yet? I was in Tesco at the weekend and the bread shelves were empty. Looked like some people were panic buying, after the event.
velvet donkey posted:I knew the forecast Yogi and we've two freezers. Funnily enough a neighbour - not direct - came over with two litres of milk yesterday. Our neighbours are basically crap and I loved that gesture. I feed off good and like us all hate the opposite
Weâre the same, we have two freezers and I have dried milk in for emergencies - not that I needed it.
Weâre lucky with our neighbours, we all help each other out if needed.
I totally understand what you mean about feeding off good, that was a kind gesture from your neighbour.
Last Wednesday when I discovered that the car battery was dead I cancelled my trip to M&S and walked to the local Co-op. As I knew that the weather was going to be bad from Thursday I realised that the likelyhood of getting the battery replaced by the weekend was remote so thought doing a bit at the Co-op was a good idea. In the milk section I was able to get a 2 pint semi-skimmed one. It was the only one there and had fallen down right at the back on the bottom shelf. I was able to get it out, I suspect most other people had given up.
Velvet, that was a kind gesture from your neighbour
Nothing has happened with the car battery. So I rang them this afternoon to see what was happening. Sounds as if they are rather disorganised. They had to apologise and someone will come tomorrow morning.
El, I hope you get the battery changed soon

thatâs like something from a Hitchcock movie
i wonder if they were eating something off of the road, theyâre probably starving hungry
El, your story about the milk made me think youâd be good on the crystal maze nice one
velvet, no probs, I can fix your dreads up nicely fanks for the thought
today was busier, especially after school, everyone had been hibernating last week. I even stayed late, but I didnât mind
i hope you've all had a good day
Iâm glad you had a busier day, Summer. Good for your profits.
Iâve got the tiddlers tomorrow so Iâm going to get off to bed. Goodnight and sweet dreams, Summer and Velvet.
Night owl hug for Ros
Itâs a start yogi ððŧ
Sweet dreams, I hope you have a wonderful day with the tiddlers tomorrow
night yogi summer velvet
Good morning everyone
Cloudy but dry and relatively mild here.
Thanks Velvet and Yogi I'm expecting the car battery to be dealt with today
Summer, that would be Hitchcock's The Birds. The RSPB think that the starlings were either looking for water (ice melted due to salt on the road) or nibbling on the grit salt for the salt content.
There was a Doctor Who series I saw decades ago where the baddie had set the Doctor and companions a series of strange games which they had to win or solve in order to survive. Too long ago to remember what the series was called or who was in it but I have wondered if it was part of the inspiration for The Crystal Maze.
Yogi, I hope you have a good day with the tiddlers
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning everyone, have a great day with the little ones Yogi. We used to enjoy watching the Krypton Factor, we would have been hopeless at it but it was fun to 'join in at home'.
Enjoy your day everyone
Squiggle, I enjoyed The Krypton Factor as well not that I would have been any good for most of the rounds.
The car battery has been replaced and I'm now able to drive to places rather than walk. I went to the local Co-op on the way back and it's clear that there's still next to nothing in terms of fresh food. I was able to get the bread I usually get but there's hardly any bread of any type there.
One hears of people finding messages in a bottle but an Australian family have found one which was thown into the sea in 1886:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-australia-43299283
The message is of no interest but it's extraordinary that the bottle and message have survived that long.
Good afternoon hectic here!!!! (Thank god) back when I can
Thanks El I donât mind, Iâm making up for last week
i loved krypton factor! And that bottle story is amazing
Summer, I thought that would be the case this week
Another one I liked was Treasure Hunt (Kenneth Kendall and Anneka Rice, later Annabel Croft). Same creator as The Crystal Maze, also Fort Boyard.
I liked all of the programmes youâve mentioned
Minding was fine
Goodnight and sweet dreams, Ros and Velvet
Night owl hug for Summer
night yogi velvet summer if you pop in
EL loved the bottle story
Thank you ladies, sweet dreams
Good morning everyone
Sunny here with a slight frost which won't last much longer.
Yogi, I'm glad you had a good day with the tiddlers
Summer, I hope you have a manageably busy day
I hope everyone has a good day
Good morning an overcast start with the sun trying to break through. No frost, no snow, yippeeeee!!!!! Itâs my day off and I canât wait to do a proper walk today ððķ
what are you all up to?
I have to run some errands later, and pick up some M&S dinners because my poor freezer has none in lol
Good morning everyone, I know just how much you are going to enjoy your walk Summer and Bramble will too.
Enjoy your day everyone
Summer, I hope you and Bramble enjoy getting out and about
I've just returned from doing some M&S shopping as I'm back on the road and didn't have enough food to survive the rest of the week. Their stocks seemed just about back to normal
Squiggle, I hope the weather there is a bit springlike as it is here
Thanks Velvet
When it comes to food, i've always worked on the basis of everything in moderation. So I hope you can eat your steak without feeling guilty
Many years agom probably the mid 70s, I was at the staff Christmas meal when we witnessed true gluttony. A man, almost certainly the hotel owner, came into the room and sat down at a table by himself. He then proceeded to devour what was provided to him before leaving the room.
I haven't mentioned what he ate but before I do, here's a picture to give you some idea as to size.
The food consisted entirely of buttered asparagus
