Evening all

Summer, my day was busy in the morning then I had a relaxing afternoon

Good to see you, Moonie, I hope you are cosy and warm.

El, we still have some Christmas cake left - in fact, I haven’t eaten any this Christmas and only had one mince pie   I hope you and your brother enjoy your cake

aw good to see Moonie was here earlier

i hope you’ve all had a lovely evening, especially the cake eaters 🍰 #cakeenvy

I've had a relaxing, phone free evening. I watched β€œOn the town” and thoroughly enjoyed it! I didn’t realise Vera Ellen was in it, she’s my favourite actress in White Christmas.

I had no idea she’d had such real life tragedies too, I just read about her online

sweet dreams everyone I hope you all have a lovely Sunday

~Sparkling Summer~

Good morning everyone, a much brighter morning, the only downside is the forecast for the week is horrible, icy cold and unsettled.  Oh well make the most of today I suppose.

I'm glad you are both enjoying the Christmas cake EL and I hope your brother has a trouble-free journey home.  I liked Vera Ellen too Summer, although I think my favourite was Mitzi Gaynor, I think I wanted to be Mitzi Gaynor when I was younger

Enjoy your day everyone

It was great thank you Summer, some lovely memories of what a loving Christian couple her and her husband were, and always a team, never one without the other just as it was for me and my husband.  It wasn't sad, we all knew she had been taken home by the Lord and will be with her loved ones for eternity. Above all she wanted the Gospel preached at her funeral, that Jesus came as God and died for the sins of every one of us and that only by accepting that free gift from Him can we too hope to go to heaven.

I don't know whether you have ever watched South Pacific, a great film, but Mitzi Gaynor is in that playing Nellie Forbush 'I'm going to wash that man right out of my hair'. I hope your weekend is going well.

I will be taking my computer into my local computer shop tomorrow to sort out the Windows Update issue - stopped working. They say they should be able to sort it out in the day. So I won't be able to get on here during that time. It shouldn't cause me problems re my work as I've got that under control.

I hope it’s sorted quickly El.

That’s lovely they must have been a truly wonderful couple 😍 I’m glad she had a good send off

I have seen South Pacific, and remember that song well! So it seems I am familiar with Mitzi, I just didn’t know it

Good morning everyone, very rainy here too, I think the first part of the week is forecast to be very unsettled, the wind is a little strong too.  I really hope they can get your computer sorted out quickly EL, it's going to be a real nuisance being without it.  Also I wonder if they can give you the reason why the updates caused so much trouble.  Windows updates once crashed my main PC so badly that even my computer guy couldn't recover it and we had to reinstall the operating system all over again.  I hope your brother had a safe and trouble-free journey home.

Enjoy your day everyone

Thanks everyone - I'm back with my computer The Windows update issue seems to have been sorted and the recent update had been done. The technician said that the sorting out process had picked up three errors which have been sorted out. I think it may be down to the Windows patch for the Meltdown/Spectre Intel issue. Microsoft arranged it so that unless your a/v s/w had set a particular flag in the registry the update process would be frozen. Although the flag had been set, the process had been frozen.

Only time will tell if the Microsoft patch for the Meltdown/Spectre issue will have any noticeable effect on computer performance. It won't for most things, just processor intensive activities.

Thanks Squiggle, I hope my brother got back home without any problems - none were expected.

Better catch up with client work, not that there's much to catch up on. I had been doing some preparatory work this morning on a couple of clients where I didn't need a computer and catching up on some technical material.

Thanks Moonie and Yogi

Yogi, it was a damp grey morning here and for an hour it was chucking it down here too. I had taken the computer to the shop before it rained heavily as I had seen the forecast. For once the forecast was correct. The afternoon was quite sunny but there was a shower. I had put my computer in a black bin bag, not because it was rubbish but to protect it from the rain when I took it in.

Yes, I think I came across that tip some time ago somewhere.
